So, I had a U/W tempo deck since standard and it always felt pretty good in frontier. Every now and then there would be a new card worth testing, but really the list never changed much. As time passed and more deck archetypes popped up, my deck seemed to be performing less optimal then it once did. When I got to thinking about it, I could easily go three colors (in a shard) and still have a mana base just as reliable. The question was should I go Esper or Bant. After very little thought it was obvious that if you go bant then you switch to playing a Coco deck (many of the same pieces). Being somewhat Coco'ed out still I decided to try Esper. This opened up a few interesting options:

1) Fatal Push- best removal in the format, and right on theme for the tempo strategy. Also, not only does it trigger off of fetchlands, but also from Selfless Spirit. Very juicy.

2) Hostage Taker- when considering how brutal Reflector Mage can be, on most decks in the format, Hostage Taker serves much of the same purpose. Against creature based decks, going Reflector Mage into Hostage Taker can be game over. Hostage Taker is also boosted in this deck as Selfless Spirit, Archangel Avacyn and Siren Stormtamer can help guarantee we get to cast the exiled card.

3) Scrapheap Scrounger- the deck is very resilient to begin with, but having a creature we can cast from the yard makes us that much stronger.

Black in sideboard:
Sorin, Solemn Visitor- so good in so many matchups. (Depending on the meta, you can switch this to mainboard and put Hostage Taker in the side). Shuts down aggro by himself. Also, in midrange matchups, he allows you to essentially negate your opponents attacks and if they just hold creatures back to block as a counter measure you can strategically attack to gain life while still doing damage or just use it to buy you time to draw some removal to improve your odds.

Non-black additions:
Chart a Course- is perfect card draw for a tempo deck and is a great two-of. You could go with Champion of Wits in the main instead, but keeping the curve low in this deck feels more important than the body in a lot of cases.

Siren Stormtamer- Inspector is great as a one drop, but the Siren does so much: protects us against discard, major burn/life loss cards, other target player effects, targeted creature removal/bounce/steal. In addition, a flyer can be key in some matchups. The ability not needing to tap means that we can use the Siren even after attacking or being tapped down for Copter (major importance).

Champion of Wits- in the sideboard for decks that we need to side Reflector Mage out for.

Sideboard- this sideboard is pretty generic, answers for any major possible deck. Adjustments would be made, obviously, as meta's shape up.
