Legacy goblin stompy and dragon stompy lose most of the threats coming to modern. Not so with werewolf stompy, so this is just a port of that deck. We lose the city of traitors, ancient tomb, and chrome mox and the best rituals in modern have been banned. That hurts. We're left with Desperate Ritual and Pyretic Ritual.
The idea is to power out Blood Moon or Magus of the Moon or Trinisphere on T2 with one of the 12 ramp spells. Then cast a werewolf or two and get them to flip on your opponent's turn and beat down while they're stuck on lands/colors. Revokers keep them from ramping/fixing with mana dorks (DRS especially). Avalanche Riders can be devastating if they hit the lone basic, but slow so I haven't liked mainboarding them.
Chalice of the Void has been getting more important. While some decks shrug their shoulders at 1cmc, landing it against UR delver or burn is great. It may be maindeckable now. Thorn of Amythest has been OK in its stead, though not great because opponents can still cast chump blockers but it can keep them off removal.
I tried running Rw for Thalia, the instability in mana base with so many Blood Moon effects made her not ideal, plus she had to come down after hate otherwise she slowed the Trinisphere type effect.
Other cards tested but didn't make the cut: mondronen shaman (shock damage is meaningless), kruin outlaw (died to bolt), tectonic edge (too late), fulminator mage (enough nonbasic hate), stone or molten rain (terrible topdeck), Lodestone Golem (too slow), Chancellor of the Annex (didn't do enough), Chancellor of the Tangle (T1 ramp only wasn't worth a dead card in hand).
Still working on the best sweeper. Pyroclasm is a good default but it hits our own stuff and is almost certain to miss a goyf. Bonfire is good because it doesn't hit my revoker/magus, but it costs more than others and is bad w/o miracle cost. Anger of the Gods, Volcanic Fallout, Flamebreak, & Slagstorm compete with the 3-drop slot and Flamebreak can't be cast off Cavern. Anger does hit Finks, which is nice. Pyroclasm is probably right, but worth testing.
