Uncle Karlov Exiles All the Things (EDH / Commander)

This deck originally included the Sanguine Bond / Exquisite Blood combo, but this was considered too cheesy and difficult to interact with. Sanguine Bond has been taken out in favour of Vito (same effect, but on a creature at lower CMC, to allow more interaction). Exquisite Blood remains in the deck, as there is no equivalent which provides this effect at the present time. This might get taken out in future if it still proves too unfun.

Avarice Amulet was removed from the deck following the change to the rules on death triggers (i.e., they now trigger for commanders, so it is no longer safe to play it). It has been replaced by Mangara, the Diplomat.

Pontiff of Blight was replaced by Crypt Ghast for a similar effect at lower CMC. Both are lightning rods, but the Ghast is easier to get value out of.

A couple of higher CMC, clunkier cards (Obzedat, Ghost Council and Divinity of Pride) were removed in favour of cheaper but very impactful cards (Speaker of the Heavens and Heliod, Sun-Crowned).

Phyrexian Scriptures was removed in favour of Lurrus of the Dream-Den.

The Meathook Massacre will go into the deck once I have one...

Cards which were in consideration but not included:

• Most cards which give lifegain triggers only from your own creatures (Zulaport Cutthroat, Suture Priest, Daxos, etc.). The deck doesn't really have the critical mass of creatures to make these worth it.

• Serra Ascendant. Not only is it a groan card which paints a massive target on you, but I don't own one.

2024 revision notes:

• 3 newer lands to be swapped in for Tainted Field + 1 of each basic.

• Spectrum Sentinel to replace Legion's Landing.

• Amalia to replace Wall of Reverence.

• Voice of the Blessed to replace Tithe Drinker.

• Marauding Blight-Priest to replace Kunoros.

• Sheoldred to replace Nyx-Fleece Ram.

• The Meathook Massacre to replace Austere Command.

• Smuggler's Share to replace Tymna.
