To play your deck at an official ("DCI-sanctioned") tournament you need a deck registration sheet. Here you can download such a sheet pre-filled with the cards in this deck!
Please note: This is not an official DCI service. So please always make extra sure that the sheet contains all the cards in your deck and fulfils all DCI requirements. If you notice anything wrong, please let us know. DCI is a trademark of of Wizards of the Coast LLC.
There are no cards with "Affinity" of course, but modern affinity is merely a name sake at this point as well. The deck is pretty fast, complete with two quality one drops. At two there are a big drop and a flying card that draws one without fail. The three drops either pump or provide multiple creatures. At 4 Padeem does a good job of protecting our guys, while we play a one of Fleetwheel to finish games. Of course the Copter is a star in this deck as well.
The spells are low to the ground. We are playing 6 one mana pump spells, which are vital to going over other aggro decks or even midrange decks. Harnessed Lighting is the removal of choice, however will be sided out in many matchups.
The land base is very solid as not only is it simple with two colors, but with all the artifact spells it is even more likely to hit every drop on curve all the time. Aether Hub is great for the deck as we cast many colorless spells, it does not enter tapped, and it can enable returning Scrapheap Scrounger from the grave. The two of Westvale Abbey is there for board stalls and the one of Hanweir Battlements provides haste in the mid game.
Concerns: Radiant Flames wrecks our life. Kozilek's Return is not too bad as it will only hits for two damage and most our creatures will be beyond that by turn 3, especially on the play (if our opponent is hitting us with Kozilek's Return out of the grave off a huge Eldrazi then we have probably lost already). In games where it is a turn three Radiant Flames we basically need to hope that the vehicles can get there. This matchup is a big reason for the one of Hanweir Battlements as we can bounce back a little faster. The counters in the side make us stronger against these cards.
Kalitas is also a big problem. He can block anything we throw out there and gets our opponent back in the game with the first block. Our main deck removal cannot kill Kalitas (without a bonus energy counter from Aether Hub at least). Lightning Axe is our main hope against him, with Revolutionary Rebuff helping as well.
Sideboarding (in most cases)
Galvanic Bombardment for Harnessed Lightning & Padeem (vs extreme aggro)
Lightning Axe, Negate, Padeem for Harnessed Lightning, Fleetwheel & Borrowed Hostility (vs most midrange)
Negate & Rebuff for Harnessed Lightning, Borrowed Hostility (vs control)
*You may ask why I play Harnessed Lightning main deck if it gets sided out in almost all matchups? The reason is that it is a versatile card that is good against most decks and is instant speed (only weak against pure control). The reason it comes out is to upgrade the slot with specific cards for that matchup. Main deck you want versatility while sideboard you want specific answers.
