To play your deck at an official ("DCI-sanctioned") tournament you need a deck registration sheet. Here you can download such a sheet pre-filled with the cards in this deck!
Please note: This is not an official DCI service. So please always make extra sure that the sheet contains all the cards in your deck and fulfils all DCI requirements. If you notice anything wrong, please let us know. DCI is a trademark of of Wizards of the Coast LLC.
So with the addition of Lorehold, we finally get some solid red/white support that doesn't have to deal directly with combat. Osgir, the Reconstructor is a VERY strong toolbox in the command zone. His first ability is a nice sac outlet when you don't have something better (KCI / Grinding Station), that also buffs any creature by +2/+0. This is a relevant ability at almost any point of the match, as a one cost sac outlet with a damage buff is solid at worst. This is a deck that wins through combat damage, and being able to buff something like a Blightsteel Colossus or Myr Battlesphere multiple times can help eek out those last few points of damage for exactsies. But moving on to the more powerful, and IMO interesting ability...
The ability to double your artifacts is flat out bonkers. Osgir might as well read "X, Tap: Ramp in colors that aren't supposed to." Artifact lands? Tap them for the mana to sac them, buff Osgir and attack, tap Osgir for X = 0 during MP2, ramp. You have a sol ring on the field? Tap it, sac it, get 2 for the price of 1. Mana rocks? Double it! Artifact draw? Double it! Myr Battlesphere? DOUBLE IT! All joking aside, I can say with confidence that this has been the only red/white deck I've piloted that managed to KEEP UP WITH THE GREEN PLAYERS MANA RAMP. I cannot stress how impressive this is. Osgir is a card that Boros has been waiting for for a very long time.
Moving onto the main deck, this is an artifact deck in Boros that tries to take advantage of artifacts in your graveyard. Most of the draw I run is rummaging/looting, as I usually have something in hand I want to pitch to grave. You have your standard white removal with Path to Exile and Swords to Plowshares. Dispatch is a nice addition to the one mana creature removal spells. I prefer Wear // Tear to Generous Gift in this deck, as giving your opponent a 3/3 blocker in a deck where your primary damage is attacking (and doesn't have trample) isn't worth the ability to target anything. Doomskar and Austere Command are my two board wipes of choice. You could argue for an All is Dust, as it would be partially one sided, but this is a deck that heavily commits to the board so symmetrical board wiping is more often a hinderance than a help.
Next, lets talk about value cards. Feldon of the Third Path is deadly in this deck, able to bring out hastey copies of any creature in your grave. Wurmcoil Engine, Blightsteel Colossus, Combustible Gearhulk, and many other powerhouse creatures are targets for his ability turn after turn, as he doesn't remove the creature he's copying from the grave. I included Hofri Ghostforge and Quintorius, Field Historian more to test them out than as set parts of this deck, but boy-howdy does Hofri put in work! This is a creature heavy deck, as Boros tends to be, and with about half of them being artifact creatures....yeah it's easy to see how Hofri puts out consistent value. I haven't had a game where I've seen Quintorius resolve, and he does have the weaker ability between himself and Hofri, but I want to see how he does in a game or two before I cut him. Losheel, Clockwork Scholar is the other Strixhaven Legendary I put in here, and honestly? He's performed better than expected. I put Losheel in this deck over Mangara, the Diplomat although I consider the two side-grades to each other. His damage negation ability has come in handy in more than one game, where I had to have my Blightsteel/Phyrexian Triniform/Myr Battlesphere/etc. attack into a well set up board to deal damage. His draw isn't the most consistent though, able to get me one card roughly every 2-3 turns in isolation. I think if Quintorius ends up not working out, I'll swap him for Mangara for the additional card draw.
Finally, onto the win cons. There are a couple of win-cons in this deck. First, and most commonly, is straight up battle damage. Boros is good at it, and this deck is no exception. As I mentioned earlier, having your commander be able to buff himself or something else by +2 power per mana and artifact spent is pretty good. Cards like Phyrexian Triniform, Myr Battlesphere, and Wurmcoil Engine quickly spiral out of control, as you can quickly and efficiently abuse their etb/death triggers to flood the board with tokens and attack. As we all know, the only thing scarier than one Wurmcoil Engine attacking is two Wurmcoil Engine attacking. Combustible Gearhulk is a solid 6/6 with significant damage potential from it's effect, the list goes on.
There is only one non-infinite alternate win-con in this deck, and that is Hellkite Tyrant. It is surprisingly easy to pull off a win with it just off your artifact doubling. Combining that with Mycosynth Lattice almost guarantees a win on your upkeep. There are also some infinites in here to help close out the game. First, we have Basalt Monolith + Rings of Brighthearth for infinite colorless mana. We've got a few ways to spend that to just win, such as Walking Ballista and Staff of Domination. We can also pump it into our commander to recurse more things/sac more things. And finally, it's nice to just hard cast some of our bigger spells.
Edit 1: So I've been testing out the deck, and I made some changes. I added Teshar, Ancestor's Apostle, along with Scrap Trawler, Junk Diver, and Workshop Assistant, to allow for more infinite lines with KCI, took out Millikin and Burnished Hart as I have enough ramp as is. The biggest road block I have to consistent wins is the lack of tutor in this deck. Hopefully, wizards will stick with this "artifact and graveyard" line of play for Boros. All it needs is something Fabricate level of power, nothing too flashy.
Edit 2: Cut Mangara, the Diplomat in favor of the new (at time of writing) Esper Sentinel. This is THE best white draw card WotC has ever printed, you can't convince me otherwise.
Edit 3: Swapped Deal Broker for Oswald Fiddlebender. Oswald enables similar plays by adding a card to grave from the board instead of discarding, and selective tutoring instead of draw. Losing the artifact and free activated draw ability does sting a bit more than normal in this deck, but selective tutor is too good to pass up, especially when all this deck really needs is some more consistency. Updated the deck name to upset people who get the reference.
Edit 4: Removed Combustible Gearhulk added Queen Kayla bin-Kroog as this deck has a lot of artifacts at mana values 1, 2, & 3 CMC. The sorcery restriction seems to be how WotC is curbing Boros Artifacts from getting too out of hand too quickly, and honestly I'm fine with that so long as it gets more support.
