Created for the Planeswalker Challenge - build a deck for any Planeswalker that is thematic, fun to play and accessible.

The simple rules of the challenge:

  1. Choose your Planeswalker.
  2. Your deck must include 3 copies of that Planeswalker (or, for those that already have theme decks, you can include 1 copy of that Planeswalker and the 2 cards from that deck that tutor that Planeswalker).
  3. Your deck cannot include other Mythic cards, and can only include up to 4 Rare and 16 Uncommon.
  4. Your deck can only include cards from the same block (or set, post-blocks) as your Planeswalker.

The guidelines for the challenge:

  1. Try to create a deck that really shows off what your Planeswalker can do, and that suits their personality.
  2. Try to stick to a colour identity that is thematic for your Planeswalker.
  3. If your Planeswalker is aligned with a particular faction, try to include only cards from that faction and 'neutral' cards, not cards from other factions.

About this deck:
Vraska has abilities that want to sacrifice your own permanents for card draw and, eventually, get at least one creature through your opponent's guard to secure the win. To make a thematic deck, then, we'll want to include cards that let us draw more cards, cards that like it when we sacrifice our own permanents, and ways to make sure we can break through our opponent's creatures.
This deck tries to do just that, Beast Whisperer giving us game-winning card draw in our creature heavy deck, Izoni, Thousand-Eyed giving us creatures, sacrifice and card draw, and even Portcullis Vine giving us card draw in a pinch, and by sacrificing itself to boot. Vindictive Vampire loves it when our creatures die, and our bevy of creatures with deathtouch (Hired Poisoner, Ochran Assassin, Pitiless Gorgon) make sure that even as our creatures die our opponent can't get ahead (particularly with some help from Tower Defense and Prey Upon). Finally, Swarm Guildmage gives us the potential for an unblockable assault once we've triggered Vraska's -9.
I used Vraska's colours in this deck, and cheated a bit - although Guilds of Ravnica and Ravnica Allegiance are not a block in the true sense, I've still used cards from both sets. At least I left War of the Spark out of it!
I avoided any cards that bore the watermark of a guild other than the Golgari, or that have a clear association with another guild.
