    Description

    Tatyova Landfall: A Primer

No one cared who I was until I put down a land... and then did it again. And again. And again.

Tatyova, Benthic Druid has the ability and colors to make her a very breakable Commander. There are so many ways to combo off in this deck that we essentially don't have to worry about removal, as there will always be another combo. This deck runs minimal interaction - two counterspells and two creatures with quasi-countering abilities - and gets by just fine.

The standard plan is to ramp and draw as hard as possible until you can combo out.

The obvious endgame is to stumble into a landfall loop with Tatyova on the field, draw out your deck, play Laboratory Maniac, draw and win.

This can be accomplished numerous ways, but most directly by Patron of the Moon. This card is great at initiating arbitrary landfall loops, and you can Eldritch Evolution Tatyova for it.

Example 1: Oboro Breezecaller + Patron of the Moon + Tatyova, Benthic Druid + Gaea's Cradle, + Forest (or almost any land, really). Tap Cradle for 3G, activate both Patron and Breezecaller, bounce the forest, untap the Cradle, put the forest back into play, draw and gain 1 life. Rinse and repeat.

Another example: Patron of the Moon, + Tatyova, Benthic Druid + Lotus Cobra + Amulet of Vigor / Stone-Seeder Hierophant + Oboro, Palace in the Clouds (in hand). Play Oboro, Landfall triggers let you draw and give you a mana, tap Oboro to bounce itself, use the mana for Patron's ability to put Oboro back into play, etc, etc.

We could spend forever on Patron of the Moon, but let's look at some other arbitrary landfall combos, assuming we have Tatyova in play for the arbitrary amount of draw:

Retreat to Coralhelm + Sakura-Tribe Scout / Skyshroud Ranger + Oboro, Palace in the Clouds / Trade Routes / Oboro Breezecaller

Rings of Brighthearth + Aphetto Alchemist + Sakura-Tribe Scout / Skyshroud Ranger + Lotus Cobra + Oboro, Palace in the Clouds / Trade Routes / Oboro Breezecaller

Deadeye Navigator + Azusa, Lost but Seeking + Oboro Breezecaller + Lotus Vale + Forest (Or almost any land)

Words of Wind + Azusa, Lost but Seeking + Amulet of Vigor / Stone-Seeder Hierophant + Simic Growth Chamber (in hand)

This is hardly an exhaustive list of all the combos, but as you can see, there is a high level of synergy between most of the cards in this deck, which allows for highly interchangeable combos, and lets you be fairly creative in their application.

It ramps hard and fast, and usually gets Tatyova out by turn three, consistently winning another turn or two later. In my experience, without interaction, this deck wins turn four 10-20% of the time, turn five 60% of the time, and turn 6 and later another 20-30% of the time. It can win earlier than turn four, but not consistently.

This deck is for you if:
    -you like playing lands
    -attacking is meh
    -you like discovering new combos

this deck is not for you if:
    -you like quick turns
    -you love attacking
    -you don't like combos

Thanks for taking a gander, comments and recommendations appreciated.
