Mono Blue Control (Standard)

This is a bare bones, no frills, old fashioned control deck.

Keep creatures off the board with Essence Scatter, Unsummon, and in the late game Baral's Expertise; and a free Glimmer of Genius off that Baral's Expertise to boot :D

Shut down planeswalkers and annoying spells with Negate, while Insidious Will allows you to choose just how you shut that stuff down :P

Let Disallow handle everything else.

Glyph Keeper does a lot of work, and is hard to deal with. Torrential Gearhulk is a powerhouse that lets you gain some creature support while shutting down a spell or refilling your hand. Both of these creatures will put your opponent on a 4 turn clock as they both deal 5 damage.

Jace, Ingenious Mind Mage let's you just dig into your deck, as will Opt. His second +1 can also keep your defenses up while his ultimate can create some problems for an opponent foolish enough to go wide.

The sideboard is designed to adapt your deck for any challenge. Dealing with fast aggro or a creature heavy deck? Winds of Rebuke will handle that, as well as any other nonland permanent, as will Galestrike, with the added bonus of replacing itself. Dealing with a go wide deck? Bring in River's Rebuke and watch those issues wash away :D

Up against another control deck? Bring in Baral, Chief of Compliance and just out pace them.
