To play your deck at an official ("DCI-sanctioned") tournament you need a deck registration sheet. Here you can download such a sheet pre-filled with the cards in this deck!
Please note: This is not an official DCI service. So please always make extra sure that the sheet contains all the cards in your deck and fulfils all DCI requirements. If you notice anything wrong, please let us know. DCI is a trademark of of Wizards of the Coast LLC.
Welcome aboard the Black Pearl! Lead the leadership of Captain Sisay and her crew.
This competitive commander deck emerged as a result of the countless hours of piloting this deck in my play group, followed by a continuous process of fine-tuning!
Her crew knew many forms before it became the crew that we know of today. I'm confident that Sisay’s crew will dominant other crews in your playgroup.
General Strategy:
"Your mission is out outrun your opponents from the start of the game. A decent opening hand includes at LEAST 1 dedicated ramp card like a mana rock, dork or mana tutor. Given the right starting hand you could land Sisay on turn 2 or 3, which is something pretty common in this build. After she has landed you can start your card advantage and keep pushing forward, taking distance from your opponents.
Setting up the Combo:
Setting up the combo requires Captain Sisay on the battlefield, being able to tap her and float mana in the process.
Your first 2 opening turns should be played having the possibility to ramp for mana, preferably twice! If you lack the option to ramp, you should take a mulligan!
When Captain Sisay is on the board and doesn’t suffer from summoning Sickness (anymore), you should open like this:
1.) Tap Captain Sisay and fetch the Paradox Engine
2.) Cast the Engine, followed by a cheap spell to untap all non-land permanents.
3.) Tap the Captain and fetch the Mox Opal. Float remaining mana and cast the Mox to untap all non-land permanents.
4.) Tap the Captain and fetch the Bow of Nylea. Float remaining mana and cast the Bow to untap all nonland permanents. Mox Opal now gives mana due to his metalcraft ability.
The Second Phase:
Now that we have access to our initial setup, it's time to move on to the second phase of our setup:
1.) Tap Captain Sisay and fetch Dosan the Falling Leaf. Cast Dosan - float excess mana - and your opponents can't cast any spells, making you cast all your combo pieces without the risk of being countered and such. All nonland permanents untap.
2.) Tap the Captain and fetch Reki, the History of Kamigawa . Cast this Shaman - float excess mana - to make all future legendries spell with card draw. Untap all nonland permanents.
3.) Tap the Captain and fetch Azusa, Lost but Seeking. Cast this Monk - float excess mana - to have the option to look for Gaea's Cradle in this turn in case you like to have even more mana. Draw a card because of the Shaman. And don't forget to untap all nonland permanents.
The Finish Line:
Now we have a solid base to win the game within turn 3/4. Having Azusa, Lost but Seeking on the table gives you the option to play 2 extra lands. You could tap the Captain right now and fetch Gaea's Cradle or Inventors' Fair and play them straight away.
This brings us to our finishers. I have selected a few finishers based on personal likes and my current local meta. Having the Captain means that your options are immense. But I chose these combo lines to seal the deal within a turn:
1.) If you didn't play Inventors' Fair yet, then do so now.
2.) Tap the Captain and find Selvala, Heart of the Wilds. Float all mana (except the Inventors' Fair and cast this Elf. Untap all nonland permanents and draw a card.
3.) tap the Captain and find Akroma's Memorial. Cast Akroma's if you have the mana cost Akroma's, give your creatures
4.) Sacrifice the Fair and fetch Umbral Mantle. Equip Mantle onto Selvala. Tap Selvala, float mana and repeat this process. Boom! Infinite mana, if you have a creature on the battlefield whose power is greater than five.
I have Infinite Mana and I Win!! GOOD GAME Y'all!:
Move Umbral mantle on to Captain Sisay and fetch Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite and Kamahl, Fist of Krosea. With the infinite mana cast Norn and Kamahl. Use Kamahl ability, turn all lands to 1/1 creatures and kill them with Norn! Then overrun your opponents with Kamahl ability.
Use Captain and fetch Oketra the True, cast Oketra. Use his ability and create infinite 1/1 Warrior creature tokens.
You can also use captain fetch Selvala, Explorer Returned, cast Selvala. If Paradox is still on the battlefield, parley and cast something! Draw and cast your entire library.
Other Combos and synergies:
• Captain Sisay & Mistveil Plains: A reanimation combo for any legendary card that is in your graveyard.
• With infinite mana and Walking Ballista: Infinite damage to your opponents in one turn.
• Nazahn, Revered Bladesmith or Stoneforge Mystic & Umbral Mantle or other Equipments & Selvala, Heart of the Wilds : You can search the mantle with Nazahn and equip it on Selvala for infinite mana.
