1. Overview

This pack is a dinosaur 🦖 tribal deck and the sub-theme is cheat-to-play resonating with the commander's ability but not only...

We try to create the "Jurassic park" experience where a starving dinosaur can come out from nowhere to grab you, you can think about cards like Lurking Predators, Defense of the Heart, Tooth and Nail, Court of Bounty, descendants' path...

When your opponents check the CMC of the commander they might feel safe for a few turns....wrong. We want to play the commander earlier than they expect and swing, we can hold the last piece of ramp until last moment to release the hasty beast. The pack contains also a couple of combos to assemble to make you win without the commander.

2. Strategy

> 2.a - Beginning of the game

• Do not hesitate to mulligan if you did not get 3 lands in starting hand, you do not want to miss land drops, especially with an high CMC commander.

• The mana base is pretty strong and should not give you any difficulties to fix colors

• Setup the board with ramp spells, cost reducers, and enchantments helping you for the card draw (Elemental Bond, Sylvan Library, Garruk's Uprising)

> 2.b - Being threatening, but not too much

• Cheat-to-play enchantments can make your opponents hesitate (Lurking Predators, Defense of the Heart, Descendants' Path, Court of Bounty..). It would overall slow down a bit the game giving you time to assemble a combo or use the commander.

• Do not commit too much to the board, stay under the radar, and eventually wait for a first board wipe (very common in my playgroup)

• If someone comes at you too early, hold mana for instant speed removals like Beast Within, Generous Gift, and Swords to Plowshares.

> 2.c - Top Deck Manipulation

• To get the most of Gishath's ability you want to put strong creatures on the top deck. To do so you can leverage Worldly Tutor, Scroll Rack, Congregation at Dawn or even Forerunner of the Empire.

> 2.d - Control and protect your board

• If you played the Gishath trick successfully..congratulations you are now the bigger threat at the table. You do have some protection with Heroic Intervention, Teferi's Protection and Akroma's Will

• Pyrohemia is pretty effective as a threat or to trigger enrage Dinos and control the board.

3. Winning

> 3.a - Using the commander

• Most player will expect you to play Gishath - and some are ready to counter you (remember even with RAMP you can play him not really before turn 5) - he can be a diversion

• He you play him successfully Congregation at Dawn and Scroll Rack could help you boosting your top deck a bit (with the combo below for instance)

• You can trick people by playing your commander 1 turn before than expected with lands like Ancient Tomb or Temple of the False God (you can consider to add the 0 CMC artefacts for same purpose but I am already broke ^^)

• Notice this pack contains less than 30 creatures so the gishath trick would have you about 1/2 dinos here.

> 3.b - Combos

• Your real win con is combo Forerunner of the Empire + Polyraptor. There are tons of ways to assemble the combo here: tutors, Tooth and Nail. The forerunner can tutor the Polyraptor itself. But read this closely Defense of the Heart: This guy will go pick your 2 combo piece and then forerunner will tutor Regisaur Alpha for the hasty army.
