I feel that one of the main reasons mono black control had died out in pauper is the fact that it has no way to deal with artifacts. I wanted to create an updated version mono black control that had a way to deal with artifacts, but could still finish with Gray Merchant of Asphodel, because he gives us a good way to gain life against burn and decks like delver and could deal a ton of damage in other match ups. I decided that red was the way to go because it gave us access to Terminate, the best removal spell in pauper, and we got Flame Slash and Firebolt to, which didn't hurt. Along the way, I found that Blightning was a solid discard spell that sped up our clock and made us more effective in other control decks. Right now I currently am experimenting with a sing Faithless Looting, because I feel that it could be valuable to search for answers, but I'm not sure it's worth losing a card, and Dash Hopes, which is a counterspell virtually unseen in pauper, so nobody is prepared for it, and it is much harder to sideboard to due to the fact it is not blue and thus immune to Pyroblast. Kathari Bomber is another amazing card that doesn't really see play, and is really effect against most black decks because it is immune to doomblade, and can create tokens to stop chainer's edict from hitting it. Another advantage this deck has is that a number of the cards that we use for control or tempo like dash hopes and Blightning also burn our opponents, so we can end the game quicker with less worry of our opponent top decking removal.
