To play your deck at an official ("DCI-sanctioned") tournament you need a deck registration sheet. Here you can download such a sheet pre-filled with the cards in this deck!
Please note: This is not an official DCI service. So please always make extra sure that the sheet contains all the cards in your deck and fulfils all DCI requirements. If you notice anything wrong, please let us know. DCI is a trademark of of Wizards of the Coast LLC.
Edgar's Army is a 75% Vampire Aggro deck. Play at least one vampire every turn. Swing for damage. Get'em dead or be dead by turn 10.
Ede's Deck-building Philosophy: Build your deck to be both interactive, resilient, and casually competitive. Don't sacrifice one for the others. You only get to spend so much time at the table, build your deck so that you are able to PLAY MAGIC at all times. This means being able to bounce back from board wipes, prevent mana screw, plow through mana floods, and not stall out on card draw. Commander games can take a long time, build your deck to guarantee you always have something to do at the table; build to be "in the thick of it."
Specific Notes on Building This Deck:
1) Speed is everything with this deck. Note what you do not see rather than what you do see. This deck does NOT contain high cost vampires. It contains low cost vampires and card draw. Each vampire is expendable. This deck is not attempting to do anything fancy, it's aggro pure and simple.
Key
Sub = Actual Card not owned. Using named card as a substitute.
SC = Shared Card. This card is shared among other EDH Decks and not kept in the box.
Sideboard contains cards that are relevant to the deck in some way, but are currently being played. These may be cards in consideration for inclusion. They may be there in the event the meta game shifts and specific effects are needed. They may just be fun cards I want to play in the deck someday.
Specific Notes on Playing this Deck:
1) Swing first, swing early. Pick out your nearest combo player and pose them a question. Block with your combo pieces or take the hit. Kill someone or be taken down by turn 10.
2) Use your removal wisely and don't hesitate to remove your own artifacts or enchantments if it will allow you to kill someone quicker.
3) This deck bounces back quickly. Often you will kill someone early, or nearly so, the rest of the table will gang up on you to bring you down. If they are smart, they will just kill you. If that happens, go have a beer and watch. But, once your board is empty most other players won't go in for the kill to finish you off for fear of retaliation of the other remaining player. Use this time and prepare a burst turn to recover.
4) Never tutor for creature removal. You have vampires for that. Captivating Vampire and Bishop of Binding are better options. If you have on board card draw, go get Forerunner of the Legion and then go get one of those two Vampires.
