Well as i said, maybe a way to thin out the deck, making you draw nonland cards instead. Have not been playing magic for that long so could be wrong

thinning the deck out is right, but compared to that you effectively lose a mana (comes tapped) in the round you use it and losing the mana weighs more than thinning the deck out, which is quite marginal. so get it out
