It beats going to damn Ravnica three times. That was ridiculous. They did absolutely amazing with the war of the spark trailer and story and delivery of it all, I think, so I can't be too upset. It was a good finale to the very long Nicol Bolas story, which started just after the Eldrazi ended, if I remember correctly. It was no Endgame finale, but it was good. I truly hope they have a fresh story going forward, and can build up to that same level of epicness, but I don't want just another adventure for the gate watch. We can go a few sets without the gatewatch, right? Or has Magic: The Gathering turned into the story of the gatewatch? I guess you can't really have Lord of the Rings without the fellowship, even though they broke apart, it followed the characters still. But MTG is not a book or a movie. Why can we only have the one group of protagonists?

My guess is with the storytelling now they'll continue to have the Gatewatch be the "stars" of the story. Or at the very least, Jace.

Time travel's been done so many times... Urza's Saga, Time Spiral (duh), Tarkir, but there's nothing stopping them from doing it again.

Obviously at least a couple members of the gatewatch will be front and center.  at the end of the war of the spark novel they gave different groups of two or three watchers the tasks of hunting down Dovin Baan, Tezzeret, and Liliana.  So I think that will take up the next few sets.  I just hope it's somewhere new.  Perhaps we'll finally get an actual legion of doom, with dovin, tez, and lili recruiting people like ob nix or some of the other "evil" planeswalkers" or something.  Magic: the Gathering: Civil War.

I just want more Davriel.  and to know who the hell the wanderer is.

Anyway, that's still a ways off.  Next thing to hit spoiler season is C20, and then the next standard set to release in Sept.  Can't wait for C20 though, as a huge EDH lover.  I only follow standard for the story.

Lorwyn is the first one to come to mind, but lots of places have faeries.

According to the Photo I've got (https://deckstats.net/forum/index.php/topic,47867.0.html), it seems like they will be a main theme for the deck. I've just taken a look at the lorwyn cards, a return there could be interesting.
