i can hurt my self in my safe space

this deck is about abusing the wanderer and personal sanctuary. so i abuse them with these cards: pestilence chainer's torment command the dreadhorde demonlord belzenlok, and make my opponent suffer from all this with sower of discord. to survive the early game we have wall of omens tithe drinker and midnight reaper. i havent play tested this deck yet, but i think it could end up being pretty strong and fun!

i am considering making a Esper version with a mill package to rise every creature from your opponents deck with command the dreadhorde and the wanderer or safe sanctuary.

Damage and paying life are different effects. The Wanderer won't prevent you from paying life for spells and abilities.

Those cards require you to pay life, not deal damage to you and hence won't be prevented. Think of it as part of the cost, you can't use the ability unless that cost is paid.
