Well, you are true, but he is there mainly because post-sidebording... (you dont have to revel him as yours companion, he can stay in sidebord hidden) of course you can edit deck as you wish and have him ready in first game as well! :)
 He is way to bring back crabs or even snp-mage in case opponent is killing your stuff or even if you face mirror match and palying againts mill too.
