Master Biomancer was the only card in the shell that did anything with +1 counters. Smugger was the weakest link in the small blink package.
Venser's Journal is currently the deck's only way to gain life, and triggers on upkeep - so it may be worth the 5 mana investment.
Paradox Haze grants +1 upkeep, and even at it's bare minimum should provide some value.
Slightly concerned that new cards have no direct synergy with Riku, fortunately they can be copied by clever impersonator or Lithoform engine.

Biovisionary was always a cute but outsider win-con. Much rather have a card that pulls weight for the main theme, the upkeep step.
