Honestly, I like the change.  If they just reprinted all the same partners as before, the this set would literally just be "more expensive Commander Legends".  This will allow the draft to play out much differently.

It's a bit disappointing regardless. There's plenty of them sitting over $5 still, a few even being over $20. The reprints would've been nice.

I'm just wondering at this point how long that rule stays draft only.

The whole problem with the partner mechanic is that it is necessary in draft, yet broken in constructed.  They're not making any more cards with partner.  (Although "partner with" is ok.)


It seems they stole this idea from Commander Cube.  This seems to be a popular house rule for Cubing Commander-style.

Fortunately, Wizards of the Coast is not in charge of how the commander rules operate. All legendaries having partner is not something that will be in commander.

It's a very, very strange change but it kinda makes sense in context.

So far, I'm happy none of the cards I need has been rareshifted to mythic (Medallion cycle, Deadly rollick cycle). I wonder how/if that's going to impact prices, since it's still €15-20 for a set booster.

Yeah, that's pretty much the only reason I brought up partner. They need a way to let players build functional draft decks even if they couldn't draft a legend of the correct colors.
This solution only works in a limited environment where they can control which monocolor legends will show up.
Randomly giving partner to monocolor legends that were never supposed to have the keyword (Urza, Lord High Artificer) is a recipe for disaster. Oh, wait-

Full art Demonic Tutor is pretty badass.
Still not sure if it's worth the price tag, though.
