Bant Eternal CommandA
Bant take on Yasooka's Temur Eternal Command build.
Why
Bant?
Aside from desiring Path over Bolt as my removal of choice, White provides me with desirable options in MB
Spell Queller and SB
Blessed Alliance and Wrath effects.
I also just have a general desire to play a
Bant aligned control deck and believe this to be the best shell for it.
How does the deck function?
Before getting into my specific card choices I think it's necessary to discuss the plan of the deck. Once that's established we can discuss how my card choices fit into that deck plan.
The plan of the deck is in its name.
Aether Vial on 3 allows you to cast
Cryptic Command, and then return it to hand to be able to cast it the next turn. Cryptic can then bounce your Witness allowing you to eternally cast
Cryptic Command and lock your opponent out, chip in for incremental damage, or bury them in card advantage.
On Some Card Selections
Coiling Oracle - I originally ran
Spellstutter Sprite in this position, and as a result I regularly found myself desperately hoping to draw into a Cryptic or E-Wit soon.
Coiling Oracle both helps me ramp or just simply replaces itself. It's not as a good a defender as say
Wall of Omens, but accomplishes the goal of cycling with the upside of sometimes ramping.
Remand - Though I don't think
Remand is all that great right now, I'm running two here for the cycle. I often found myself desperate for Cryptic, E-Wit or Snapcaster.
Remand gets me a little closer to those cards while keeping me
alive through stalling in the early game.
Jace, A of T - Jace is here for incremental card draw and is very much a flex spot card. I really wanted to play
Tamiyo, Field Researcher, but thought better of it. Open to playing a different card here that facilitates card draw, but don't know what else to go with.
Pulse of Murasa - This is more than just a fun-of card. The Pulse E-Wit loop is really nice against aggressive decks. It also acts as a pseudo 4th
Eternal Witness that can be utilized with
Snapcaster Mage. Can also help me loop
Ghost Quarter against Tron.
Open to suggestions for maybeboard and improvement. I'm happy to discuss SB options as well though that is more local meta dependent.
