Gruul Werewolves

Foundation for a werewolf deck with EMN. Sideboard and maybeboard will come with future updates.

Any comments or suggestions are more than welcome.

Bant Investments Vol. 2

Core Cards: Tamiyo's Journal, Briarbridge Patrol

Basically, use the early game to build your clues and stall until you can get Tamiyo's Journal and Briarbridge Patrol in play. Then tap Tamiyo's Journal and tutor for one of the big bads in the deck, Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger, Gisela, the Broken Blade, Bruna, the Fading Light, or Void Winnower. Due to you having to sacrifice 3 clues by tapping Tamiyo's Journal you trigger Briarbridge Patrol's second ability and can play any of the big bads for cheaper. Plus Tamiyo's Journal gives you a clue at the beginning of your upkeep and Erdwal Illuminator's ability gives you at least 2 per turn. You can almost tutor every turn if done right.

Maybeboard has some of the other ideas I've been thinking about. Any comments or suggestions are more than welcome.

Basically, just an update to my previous decklist post Eldritch Moon. Kinda need some help with the sideboard.

I think the most Tamiyo's Journals you should be running is three because they are legendary

That is a valid point... The extra will probably just sit in your hand considering how little artifact removal there is in this set. Especially since you don't have any discard outlets if you draw extras. Maybe replace 1 with either Pour Over the Pages (lets you draw to find one, and you can pitch extra to it, plus with land untapping, you can still play one that turn), or a Reckless Scholar (as a discard outlet for extra Journals and to help you dig for what you need). Just something to think about.

I like the idea of using Reckless Scholar a little more than Pour Over The Pages due to being able to let me draw every turn. Sure you get 3 at once for fairly cheap with Pages but its only once. Only reason I've been keeping a full play set of Tamiyo's Journal in the deck is to highly increase my chances of landing one so I'm not waiting too long. I can definitely try cutting one to see how it goes though.

I agree with KouriNick on all of the suggestions. Tireless Tracker to 4, Daring Sleuth Out, Anticipate down to 2 or less since you will be drawing off of clues, I like Press for Answers more then Expose Evil personally because of the doesn't untap clause. I would also consider Bygone Bishop in the sideboard, maybe even main board, in place of Ongoing Investigation. Bygone Bishop generates clues without requiring an attack, is a flyer, and almost every creature you are casting is below 3cmc accept for Briarbridge patrol.

The only issue with Press for Answers, and is the reason why Expose Evil is in the deck instead, is the fact it is at sorcery speed. I can save my Expose Evil cards until my opponent attacks and just tap his most powerful creatures. I've tried Bygone Bishop, but it doesn't get the investigate triggers as much as the other cards do. With relying on Briarbridge Patrol as much as you need to it kinda hurts more than it helps.

Hi MrNEKRON. I like the idea of the deck a lot and you have it really nicely balanced so far. The last few cuts are the hardest, so my suggestions may end up being way off, but I'll try to justify my choices. In the end thoigh, the best way to be sure is to test and see if you like the way the deck is playing.

So, I'm suggesting cutting 6 cards and adding one addional card, and the main reason for each of my choices is to further your theme of Journal + Patrol.

The six cards are, the 2 Daring Sleuth (it's are fine 2 drop, and it's flip side is definitely better, but yiu have so few spells the prowess isn't likely to be relavant and he's more likely a defensive creature than offsensive, so getting through to to get the extra clues seems unlikely), two anticipate (another really good card, but with 4 of each of your peices, plus all the extra card draw off clues, having 4 anticipate seems like overkill), and two expose evil (not bad, and the clue token is nice, but it's just a stop gap measure, so having 4 seems excessive). Then add a 4th Tireless Tracker (he's such a power house and he feeds his own engine. He'll probably generate as many clues as everything else put together. But he's an obvious removal target, so having a full playset means even if 1 dies, you still have decent odds of drawing another).

If yiu have any questions or comments about my choices, please feel free to ask. I hope you found this helpful. Good luck and Happy Hunting :)

Note: typed on my phone, sorry for the typos

I REALLY like your suggestions. I feel that's definitely the route to go until Eldritch Moon comes out. Thank you

I would love to cut this down to 60. Maybeboard has some of the other ideas I've been thinking about. Probably going to add the new angel horror meld cards and cut Ojutai, and maybe something else.

The only issue I have with Duskwatch Recruiter is that he can't find Tamiyo's Journal, hence why I have Anticipate. I've considered Ongoing Investigation but haven't gotten around to testing with it yet.
