I have Daxos in my EDH deck (recently just switched him out of the general spot), he does fine but is easy to get rid of. Unless you focus a portion of the deck on building him up where he's not so easy to remove he's decent but not great.

I haven't tried him in standard yet though.

Yeah, I agree

A friend of mine was running a deck similar to this, but found that Daxos just doesn't work out well.

Against aggro, they'll have some 2/X to block him with.  Against Control, the lifegain doesn't mean so much (although you can screw with their scry a little bit), and against Midrange they'll usually just zap the guy.

The real problems were with Daxos himself.  You have to cast the spell the same turn you reveal the card, and a lot of the time, that is not the opportune moment.  Also, because it is 'cast' and not 'play', Daxos whiffs COMPLETELY when he reveals a land (0 lifegain, nothing to cast).

Nightveil Specter does a similar thing, has a better body, and is more likely to get the job done.  Also, due to its crazy devotion count, you could potentially activate Thassa, God of the Sea or Erebos, God of the Dead if you were of a mind to put them in.

Thanks for your reply. Yeah I'm playtesting this deck as well and as of the moment, daxos is not that great but not that useless as well. I probably focus on control more and add 2 Jace, AOT. Thanks again!

I know some of you might think that this deck will run without daxos, true but having him at early or late game which at the time you might have control over the board which gives you card advantage against your opponent. got 3-0 and a draw on a local FNM, 1st fight is with RG 2-0, monored 3-0 , esper 2-0 .. Please advice.
