Are Burning-Tree Emissary and Hidden Herbalists too cute for this deck? They would enable Talara's Battalion too, though

It depends on how you focus it, but you have great options if you want to...:
-...be resilient to sorcery speed removal: Mishra's Factory, Mutavault, Faceless Haven (requires snow lands), Hive of the Eye Tyrant
-...really keep hurting your life total: Painlands, even though you won't use one of the colors (Caves of Koilos, Llanowar Wastes...)
-... gain flexibility: Agadeem's Awakening, Hagra Mauling, Malakir Rebirth, Blackbloom Rogue, Pelakka Predation
-...fix colorless lands to black: Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth

My personal recomendation? 4x Mishra's Factory and 1x/2x Agadeem's Awakening. I would trim on Tomb of Urami and leave it as a 1-of, being legendary can really hurt. Piranha Marsh is also underwhelming, entering tapped can hurt too.

I think having aggresive one-drops (e.g. Bloodsoaked Champion, Vampire Lacerator...) to enable Scourge of the Skyclaves is more valuable than having so many tutors because of the redundancy. That also allows, if you *really* want to tutor for something, to use Mausoleum Secrets. Also watch out for those Everglades, they are not modern legal. All in all, great idea for a deck

I don't think Dragonsoul Knight is worth it without being able to activate it. Damnation and Volcanic Fallout are a big nombo with your creature package also.

I think it's a bit of a stretch to try to play Jace's Phantasm in this deck. You have 10 cards explicitely for it and they are not very synergistic with the rest of the deck (yes, it flips Delver of Secrets and triggers Thing in the Ice, but still). I would recommend you to consider Pteramander as extra copies of Delver of Secrets, Cryptic Serpent as a big beater that is hard to kill, Runechanter's Pike to close games quickly, Thought Scour to fuel either of them, also Think Twice synergizes pretty well with Thing in the Ice and is card advantage in installments

Isn't Ghostly Flicker strictly better than Displace? It can save artifacts and in the case of targeting only one creature it effectively costs one less mana

Thanks! I wasn't sure if I was actually going to build this deck. I mostly brewed it as an exercise in making budget decks, and your comment makes me think building it might not be the best idea.

It depends on what kind of people you play with. Etrata can be very powerful, but it has restrictions that are often overlooked by the opponents just because it has "player loses the game" in it. On a budget/medium power their gameplay should be pretty interesting so, if you are hesitant, I would reccomend you testing it with proxies.

I like it! Unfortunately this is the kind of deck that makes you the target in the average table :(

I'm not sure why you would want Refocus, but Cerulean Wisps is strictly better

Did you consider 1-2 Torbran, Thane of Red Fell? It makes Cavalcade pretty crazy
