Title: What MTG content to you watch on Youtube or listen to on podcasts?
Post by: WWolfe on December 04, 2018, 06:07:52 pm
Being out of work due to having surgery I've been watching a lot of content on youtube. Cmdr Vs, Command Zone, GameKnights, etc..

Are there any others you would recommend?

I watch mainly Tolarian Community College and MTG: Goldfish. If you like EDH, MTG: Goldfish have commander clash which I would recommend and TCC has many deck techs for commander. TCC have also reviewed many MTG products such as sleeves, deckboxes sealed products etc.

Recently I have been watching a lot of Magic Aids as well. Despite the name they are actually pretty good, and often come out with good decks.

TCC is a good one. I love the Professor.

I like MTG Muddstah, he edits the game play so it's 15 to 20 minutes per episode and does 2 episodes per week

I usually watch TCC and The Command Zone but, if I may, I also have an Italian Youtube Channel (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=en&card=Channel) where i publish a EDH deck tech every month.
It's an experiment, trying to get the mood right to maybe open a dedicate channel (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=en&card=Channel), but I will really appreciate if you would like to pass by and watch something :D

I'm surprised no one has mentioned TheManaSource yet lol Wedge is great. JumboCommander is great too, and does a lot of budget edh deck techs if that's your thing. If you're more interested in top 10's, Voidmage does a lot of those. And Aether hub (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=en&card=Aether+Hub) focuses on the lore of various characters and planes

JumboCommander was on Command Zone for a while with Jimmy out of the country filming Mulan. It got me into his content as well.

YouTube:
Mining Modern on TCG Player
Star City Games Tournaments

Podcast:
The GAM Podcast
Pro Points Podcast

And some occasional Gossip Stuff from Alpha Investments or Desolator Magic.

Thought it would be interesting to necro this thread and see where everyone was on this topic almost 3 years later, "post" pandemic.

I still find myself watching the Professor on TCC, Command Zone/Game Knights/Extra Turns though not as religiously, and have really came to love I Hate Your Deck. Cmdr Vs I still watch but as I think I mentioned somewhere else, I'm not as into it as I was previously (sometimes they're personal interactions just overshadow the game play too much for me). Jumbo Commander I'm kind of ehh on anymore.

I tried watching Nitpicking Nerds but IDK, I just can't get into it despite how much some of my friends rave about it.

Muddstah is still the same OG GOAT he was three years ago; solid content. Besides him, I pretty much only watch Commander Cookout (CCO) and I Hate Your Deck for EDH. For constructed I watch CovertGoBlue, because the meta discussions are so rich.

Yes. "Casual MTG Decks" by Bram (ezqimo (https://deckstats.net/decks/63655/)), who is here. It has lots of Tribal casualness that I much appreciate. Bram gives vouchers to applauding users and gave me such 1 or 2 years ago. Definitely I'd recommend him. Fantastic videos. Lots of humor and friendliness with flashbacks and cutouts. He has lovely assistants as well. I hope to "qualify" for another voucher, but it remains in the hands and will of Bram.

Chavo

I listen to the EDHRECast since they started. It's a fun and informative podcast, many times about trends that can be seen on the EDHREC site. I also listen to CMDRCentral, three friends that talk about commander, Dana is also in the EDHRECast.

On youtube I watch Game Knights, I hate your deck and Tolarian Community College. I discoverd the I hate your deck I show when the Professor was one of their guests. IHYD is one of the more amusing Commander shows I know off. I don't like MTGGoldfish as much, althougt I like the articles of Tomer on their site. And I like the episodes of Extra Turns more than the Game Knights episodes of late, those are too produced with all the talking about what happened and who did what. That's also why I have stopped listening to the Command Zone podcast, too much talk about theirselves and their sponsor deals in the show is what has put me off.

I definitely going to check MTGMuddstah again, but I think I have watched them and didn't like it very much.

I watch Playing with Power and SplitSecond for C/EDH need, and CGB if I'm ever in the mood for some Constructed, along with The Command Zone and EDHrecast. Sometimes TCC.

I no longer watch The Command Zone or The Commander's Quarters. Both channels have become very promotional and I feel like they're a waste of my time.

I've recently picked up I Hate Your Deck because they offer really authentic content.

During the height of the pandemic, I watched a reasonable amount of MTG content.

Commander VS and LRR are my personal favourites as I feel that they best encapsulate what I love about playing magic; the atmosphere of just hanging out with friends and having a fun time, with the Magic coming second. I particularly like LRRs draft and Canadian Highlander content, but it's all great.

I Hate Your Deck are pretty good with this too, but sometimes I find the personalities a little too "larger than life (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Larger+Than+Life)" for my own reserved self.

I'll also watch Playing with Power or MTG Muddstah, but with these kinds of gameplay videos where you only get narration over the top, I'll only watch if there is a commander or archetype on display that I'm interested in. I feel like it misses something without the banter.

I also have a soft spot for Pleasant Kenobi. His sense of humour is similar to my own and I find his takes are usually very fair and reasonable. He is probably the least "WotC Shill" of all the creators that I've watched. Happy to offer criticism or praise where it is due. Plays a lot of modern and legacy too, which is a nice change of pace from commander content.

I don't play and watch (nor like- sorry) cedh.

I watched the ProTours when it still existed.
So now sometimes I watch Reid Duke (Channel (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Channel) Fireball (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Fireball)) and Seth (MTG:Goldfish).
Sometimes I watch others like LSV when a new set is out and I like to prepare for draft.

best

I started watching I hate your deck when the 1st episode was spoiled. I was thinking "this is sort of interesting" and watched the next 2 episodes. I then really liked it when the Professor showed up on the show and was swearing like a drunken sailor. I couldn't stop laughing seeing of all people drop F bombs. I don't like it when Cashes(however you spell it) and does the "look at me I have money and own this shop". I think "Big deal and I don't really care". I do like recent episodes now where they are representing rule 0 and they do talk about what they expect. It is great examples about rule 0 and hopefully they continue to do this on that show.

I consume quite a lot of content since I have a long commute every day.

Podcasts and similia (mostly on Spotify and Youtube):

EDHRECast
Commander Theory
The Command Zone
CMDR Central
Commander Clash podcast (MTGGoldfish)
The Nitpicking Nerds
Good Morning Magic

Gameplay shows (mostly on Youtube):

Game Knights / Extra Turns
I Hate Your Deck
Playing with Power (cEDH)

My favorite podcasts are probably the Commander Clash podcast (love the different personalities of Tomer, Richard, Seth and Crim), the Nitpicking Nerds (really good insights) and Commander Theory (really chill (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Chill) atmosphere and in-depth analyses).
