Shivam is a great addition for the non-competitive player. All in all, I think it's a nice and balanced crew.

I think it's great that the RC is looking to add input from others who may have different play experiences than they do. It can only help the format IMO. Now whether or not they listen to the advisory group or not remains to be seen.

It is a good idea. New faces with other perspectives sharing ideas. Instead of the RC particularly Sheldon saying "this is what should be happening". They'll being the RC will hear "this is what is happening". Hopefully from every standpoint of view

I have high hopes for this. I was definitely one of the people who thought the rules committee members were in an ivory tower (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=en&card=Ivory+Tower). I don't know who any of these people are mostly because I hate YouTubers.

I can also see this as a changing of the guard, the passing of the torch so to speak. Lets face it that they aren't getting any younger and somebody is going to have to eventually replace RC such as Sheldon. So bring in the new blood (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=en&card=New+Blood), feel them out while calling them an advisory to see if they fit the RC mold. Step down from RC and pass the torch onto those who RC feels fit to replace the shoes from the advisory

Maybe they're moving into a new pattern, where the advisory committee is the old RC members. That would make sense, as they have more experience but less power which leaves out a lot of close mindedness

I can see it as a tryout of sorts to line up a potential replacements, but I'm not sure about the members and their ages or other life obligations.

Toby Elliott, current L3 judge, also was a L5, but Wizards did away with L4 and L5 in recent years
Scott Larabee, current Organized Play Manager at Wizards of the Coast
Gavin Duggan, former L4 judge, Regional Coordinator, and Magic NetRep, original founder (with Sheldon and Duncan McGregor) of the then-EDH Rules Committee
I thought that Gavin Verhey (former Pro player, now one of the MTG Senior designers) was on the RC but I can't find anything to verify that.

Last I knew, Scott Larabee was the only WotC employee to be on the RC.

That appears to be the case. Nothing I can find says that Gavin is on it. Can't remember where I heard that he was, maybe I hallucinated.

That appears to be the case. Nothing I can find says that Gavin is on it. Can't remember where I heard that he was, maybe I hallucinated.
Gavin is pretty much the WotC frontline man for Brawl, pretty much like Sheldon used to be for EDH. Could be that got turned sideways somewhere in a dream?
