Enviado por: Mayday em Março 08, 2021, 06:21:59 pm
Hi All,

Looking to get feedback on my Edgar Markov (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Edgar+Markov) deck.

Primary Theme: Vampire Tribal (Pretty obvious)
Sub-themes: +1/+1 Counters and Life-gain

Where I'm struggling: Not sure if I'm trying to do too many things with the deck or if the themes and the supporting cards are sufficient. Any feedback would be great.

https://deckstats.net/decks/83009/1963004-markov-mardu

Cheers,

-Mayday

Hey there,
did you already played this deck and have some issues or did you just want some card recommendations?

If you need some Card recommendations I can recommend some cards for your theme

Crippling fear (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Crippling+Fear) : one sided mass removal or a big debuff for the enemy
Pact of the serpent (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Pact+of+the+Serpent) : Draw and win con :-D If you fight against a krenko, mob boss (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Krenko%2C+Mob+Boss) or Lathril, Blade of the Elves (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Lathril%2C+Blade+of+the+Elves) you can just let them draw cards and die if they life is low.
Boros charm (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Boros+Charm) : is good to protect your stuff, and can give double strike or kill someone with low life
New Blood (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=New+Blood) : mate this card is insane, don´t underestimate this card. You will change ALL instances. for example a Yuriko, the Tiger's Shadow (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Yuriko%2C+the+Tiger%27s+Shadow)  will be a vampire with the effect "whenever a vampire you control..." same is true if you take krenko, mob boss (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Krenko%2C+Mob+Boss) or Lathril, Blade of the Elves (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Lathril%2C+Blade+of+the+Elves).
Exquisite blood (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Exquisite+Blood) : If you are playing sanguine blood and vito you can also play this card to go infinite.
Legion's landing (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Legion%27s+Landing) : nice ramp and token creator
Twilight prophet (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Twilight+Prophet) : card avantage and life
anointed procession (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Anointed+Procession) : extremly strong because of...well yeah more tokens more fun
elenda, the dusk rose (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Elenda%2C+the+Dusk+Rose) : lifelink (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Lifelink), +1 /+1 counter and tokens
cruel celebrant (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Cruel+Celebrant): If you can't protect your board from a mass removal, make your opponents pay for it and gain life
nullpriest of oblivion (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Nullpriest+of+Oblivion) : 2/1 menace and lifelink (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Lifelink) for 2 mana and if you have too much mana you can revive (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Revive) something.

I don't know your playgroup and I don't know where you currently have problems, so I could only recommend various cards to you. if you put it in more concrete terms, we can talk about it in more detail again.

Hi KingKia - Thanks for the post.

I should have clarified in my original post. Basically, here are my goals for the deck and my questions:

Primary Theme: Vampire Tribal

Sub-type Themes: +1/+1 Counters and Life-gain

Goal of Deck: Pump up vampires and take advantage of opponent life drain.

Questions:
1. Is the deck focused enough? Meaning, is having the 2 sub-type themes stretching the deck too thin?
2. I went hog on the lands to ensure an even distribution on the Mardu colors even though 71% of the mana distribution is black. Is this over-kill?

Thanks for the card suggestions! Some of these look pretty awesome. I will definitely reconsider New Blood (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=New+Blood). Some of the other cards may be out of my reach due to budget restricts (a lot of the expensive cards I have in my deck were cards that I already had).

I am intrigued by Nullpriest of Oblivion (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Nullpriest+of+Oblivion), New Blood (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=New+Blood), Boros Charm (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Boros+Charm) (I have this in my Syr Gwyn deck already) and Cruel Celebrant (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Cruel+Celebrant). Do you have any recommendations as to what to swap out for those?

Hiho Mayday,
I like to help out if I can.
I'll try to answer your questions. Since I've been playing Edgar Markov (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Edgar+Markov) myself for a long time, I might be able to help you with that.

1. Is the deck focused enough? Meaning, is having the 2 sub-type themes stretching the deck too thin?

The good thing is that these are not really sub-type themes, but fundamental components of the vampire tribal. You can easily add them into your playstyle because drinking blood and getting stronger is typical for vampires. You can easily play a vampire tribal with a lifegain mechanic and buffs. So Basically your deck is just a vampire tribal you only choosed some vampires with lifegain and counters :-)

There are way more vampire for a life gain sub theme like cliffhaven vampire (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Cliffhaven+Vampire), indulging patrician (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Indulging+Patrician), epicure of blood (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Epicure+of+Blood) or defiant bloodlord (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Defiant+Bloodlord). But you choosed Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Vito%2C+Thorn+of+the+Dusk+Rose) (he is very strong at his own) and sanguine bond (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Sanguine+Bond) as well some very good vampires with lifegain. I think this should work and shouldn´t be a problem for you to run these themes.

2. I went hog on the lands to ensure an even distribution on the Mardu colors even though 71% of the mana distribution is black. Is this over-kill?

Vampires are mainly black as well as your deck. Edgar Markov (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Edgar+Markov) is mainly black with a splash of red and white so 71% is absolutely ok. But You should optimize your mana base because of the 71% black mana. You have a lot of cards with bb or even bbb so you should add more black mana resources.

I am intrigued by Nullpriest of Oblivion (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Nullpriest+of+Oblivion), New Blood (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=New+Blood), Boros Charm (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Boros+Charm) (I have this in my Syr Gwyn deck already) and Cruel Celebrant (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Cruel+Celebrant). Guul Draz Assassin (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Guul+Draz+Assassin) vs Nullpriest of Oblivion (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Nullpriest+of+Oblivion)
Boros Charm (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Boros+Charm) vs Kindred boon (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Kindred+Boon) or swiftfoot boots (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Swiftfoot+Boots) - I think an instant is better because of the suprise mother****er effect :-D
New Blood (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=New+Blood) vs. Nevinyrral's Disk (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Nevinyrral%27s+Disk) not sure if you need this if you just can take the control of the strongest creature
Cruel celebrant (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Cruel+Celebrant) vs. Adanto Vanguard (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Adanto+Vanguard) adanto is not very strong tbh

you can also change Immersturm Predator (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Immersturm+Predator) vs marauding blight-priest (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Marauding+Blight-Priest) for the sub theme or Olivia voldaren (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Olivia+Voldaren) to shoot down some 1/1 creatures or to take a creature also Bloodthirsty Aerialist (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Bloodthirsty+Aerialist) would be a candidate to swap out
and another option is the whip of erebos (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Whip+of+Erebos) for the lifegain theme

Reasoning: Either too slow or didn't line up with the strategy of the deck. The temples are a bit slower and the utility lands mentioned are more Voltron lands.

Added: 7 Swamp (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Swamp) to optimize mana base to line up with mana distribution.

https://deckstats.net/decks/83009/1963004-markov-mardu

Thanks! I actually went back and tweaked some things:

- Swapped Bloodlord of Vaasgoth (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Bloodlord+of+Vaasgoth) with Malakir Bloodwitch (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Malakir+Bloodwitch)
- Reason: I think the effect Vaasgoth has is iffy at best while Bloodwitch has a guaranteed ETB effect that I can use as a bomb, which can be triggered even more by Sanguine Blood.

- Swapped Kindred Boon (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Kindred+Boon) with Unbreakable Formation (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Unbreakable+Formation)
- Reason: I like the instant speed of Formation (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Formation) and takes into effect for all my creatures immediately.

- Swapped: Blade of the Bloodchief (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Blade+of+the+Bloodchief) for Guul Draz Assassin (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Guul+Draz+Assassin)
- Reason: Blade is more Voltron and I'd rather get another vampire token with Assassin instead based on Edgar Markov (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Edgar+Markov)'s eminence effect.

- Swapped: Sorin, Imperious Bloodlord (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Sorin%2C+Imperious+Bloodlord) for New Blood (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=New+Blood)
- Reason: Sorin is more single targeted and doesn't really speed the game along. It gave me the ability to put New Blood (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=New+Blood) instead as a slot without messing up my mana curve too much.

- Swapped: Nevinyrral's Disk (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Nevinyrral%27s+Disk) with Kaya's Wrath (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Kaya%27s+Wrath)
- Reason: I'd rather keep my mana rocks and enchantments while taking advantage of the life-gain after a board wipe. If Sanguine Blood is on the battlefield, it will deal a world of hurt to my opponents.

- Swapped: Austere Command (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Austere+Command) with Blasphemous Act (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Blasphemous+Act)
- Reason: Mana cost is pretty high and Blasphemous Act (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Blasphemous+Act) has been reliable for me in other commander decks I've had.

- Swapped: Skeletal Scrying (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Skeletal+Scrying) with Ambition's Cost (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Ambition%27s+Cost)
- Reason: Still debating this one. The instant speed is nice for Skeletal Scrying (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Skeletal+Scrying). However, if I don't have many vampires in the graveyard, I don't have as much guarantee from a card draw perspective versus the flat out 3 cards I draw with Ambition's Cost (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Ambition%27s+Cost). Also, the life loss from Skeletal Scrying (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Skeletal+Scrying) can be pretty painful if I need to get more cards.  Thoughts on this one?

- Debating: Swap Tithe Drinker (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Tithe+Drinker) with Dusk Legion Zealot (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Dusk+Legion+Zealot) or with Oathsworn Vampire (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Oathsworn+Vampire)
- Reason: Tithe Drinker (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Tithe+Drinker) as we discussed isn't great. However, I do not have Cruel Celebrant (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Cruel+Celebrant) as of this moment. Oathsworn Vampire (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Oathsworn+Vampire) is nice because I can re-cast him from the graveyard and continue to trigger Edgar Markov (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Edgar+Markov)'s eminence ability. Dusk Legion Zealot (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Dusk+Legion+Zealot) is nice for the card draw. Thoughts on this one?

I would recommend  Dusk Legion Zealot (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Dusk+Legion+Zealot)  because of the draw. It´s a cantrip and you´ll get two creatures out of it.
The other changes sounds good for me, I´m not a fan of the Guul Draz Assassin (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Guul+Draz+Assassin) if you want to play him then go for it.

Vampires are mainly black as well as your deck. Edgar Markov (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Edgar+Markov) is mainly black with a splash of red and white so 71% is absolutely ok. But You should optimize your mana base because of the 71% black mana. You have a lot of cards with bb or even bbb so you should add more black mana resources.

Is it as simple as removing some of the Boros dual lands and slotting in basic swamp (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Swamp) lands instead? I feel that would be the lowest hanging fruit.

The other tips are very helpful. Thanks again.

What I do when my deck leans to one color - like this one ... I would make sure that my multi-colored sources can all make black.  So in this deck I would limit the mana sources that only make red/white.

edit:  I count 7 Boros sources.  And that doesn't even count the colorless, mono-red, and mono-white sources.  If you're not getting enough black, consider swapping out some of those Boros sources.  If your playgroup is consistently 4 or more players, I can suggest Fellwar Stone (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Fellwar+Stone) as a decent mana rock.  Usually gets you at least 4 colors in a 4-player pod.

edit2: Exotic Orchard (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Exotic+Orchard) is Fellwar Stone (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Fellwar+Stone) on a land.

edit:  I count 7 Boros sources.

Thanks - That's helpful. Is it just as easy as swapping in Swamps for the R/W lands?

I would recommend  Dusk Legion Zealot (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Dusk+Legion+Zealot)  because of the draw. It´s a cantrip and you´ll get two creatures out of it.
Ther other changes sounds good for me, I´m not a fan of the Guul Draz Assassin (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Guul+Draz+Assassin) if you want to play him then go fort it.

Thanks KingKia. I acquired some of the cards mentioned prior and made some swaps:

- Swapped Bloodthirsty Aerialist (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Bloodthirsty+Aerialist) for Mavren Fein, Dusk Apostle (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Mavren+Fein%2C+Dusk+Apostle)

The changes make sense and fit better with the theme of the deck. What ApothecaryGeist said makes sense and you should take that into account when choosing your landcards. However, try to avoid lands which come into play tapped because of the loss of speed.

I wouldn´t play Drana's Emissary (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Drana%27s+Emissary). She has only an upkeep trigger and doesn´t synergized with all the lifelinkers. I would prefer cliffhaven vampire (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Cliffhaven+Vampire) or marauding blight-priest (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Marauding+Blight-Priest) - both of them will synergize with the lifelinkers and effects like cruel celebrant (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Cruel+Celebrant) or sanctum seeker (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Sanctum+Seeker)

Sweet. I'll have a look at the mana base and post back what I changed. I'll add marauding blight-priest (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Marauding+Blight-Priest) from a mana curve perspective. Luckily I picked it up as well (ha!).

New updates:
- Removed Battlefield Forge (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Battlefield+Forge), Needleverge Pathway // Pillarverge Pathway (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Needleverge+Pathway+%2F%2F+Pillarverge+Pathway), Rugged Prairie (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Rugged+Prairie), Sacred Foundry (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Sacred+Foundry), and Spectator Seating (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Spectator+Seating) for Swamps

Question: I am looking at Savai Triome (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Savai+Triome) and Path of Ancestry (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Path+of+Ancestry), which both come in tapped but have synergies with my deck. Are they still worthwhile to remain in the deck? Or should they be swapped out with something else?

I try to limit myself to only 3 or 4 lands that enter tapped.  And they need to help me out in some way.

Path of Ancestry (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Path+of+Ancestry) is good in that it will let you scry a lot because you are playing vampire tribal.
Savai Triome (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Savai+Triome) is ok because it can cycle if you don't need it.

I would drop Nomad Outpost (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Nomad+Outpost) (strictly inferior to the triome).  If your color fixing is good, then you won't need it.
And also Unclaimed Territory (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Unclaimed+Territory).  It only makes color if you're casting a vampire.  And if your color fixing is otherwise good, you don't need it.

Then your only tapped lands will the Path, the triome, and Bojuka Bog (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Bojuka+Bog).  then you have the shocks - you won't always take the shock (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Shock), and the check lands.

I also noticed that you have no basic plains (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Plains) or basic mountains.  I would run at least a couple of each.  If you get Blood Moon (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Blood+Moon)'ed, you'll end up mono-black.

I'm 50/50 on it.  I sometimes run the scry lands.  I find with adequate card draw and mana fixing, they're not really necessary.  Early game good.  Late game bummer.

Do you like the scry?  Do you feel the scry 1 once is worth the land entering tapped?

They both worth to play. Nomad Outpost (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Nomad+Outpost) is a card which you can drop, because savai triome (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Savai+Triome) is just the better nomad outpost (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Nomad+Outpost).
Bojuka Bog (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Bojuka+Bog), Savai Triome (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Savai+Triome) and Path of ancestry (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Path+of+Ancestry) should be your only tapped lands.

Bojuka - Gravehate on a landdrop? Nice
Savai Triome (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Savai+Triome) - cycling and a land which is a Swamp (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Swamp), Mountain (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Mountain) or Plains (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Plains) is totally worth playing
Path of ancestry (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Path+of+Ancestry) is kinda must have for tribal decks.

I wouldn´t play the temple cards because scry 1 is not worth the speed loss in my opinion. Not in a deck like markov. I would swap them for a mountain (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Mountain) and a plains (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Plains) because you don´t have even one of them.

Thanks guys. I removed Nomad Outpost (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Nomad+Outpost) and Unclaimed Territory (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Unclaimed+Territory) and swapped them with a Plains (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Plains) and a Mountain (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Mountain).

One more question: For the Boros Signet (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Boros+Signet), does it make more sense to have something like Heraldic Banner (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Heraldic+Banner)? It may have better synergies with the deck since all my vampires have black with the exception of Mavren Fein, Dusk Apostle (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Mavren+Fein%2C+Dusk+Apostle) and Rakish Heir (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Rakish+Heir).

If you want the anthem effect, it's not a bad way to go, as it doubles as a mana rock.  But as mana rocks go - 2 mana CMC is way better than 3 mana CMC.

Hi.. i'm a great fan of vampires too, and have a Edgar build too, so i can share some information about how that works from me

1 - Creatures i don't like and why:
Viscera Seer (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Viscera+Seer) - It's not an Aristocrat and a based-creature aggro does not benefit by losing creatures
Cruel Celebrant (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Cruel+Celebrant) - the same, and i think have better drop 2)
Marauding Blight-Priest (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Marauding+Blight-Priest)  - i sadly think this creature is very bad, but can works good with Sanctum Seeker (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Sanctum+Seeker)
Vampire Cutthroat (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Vampire+Cutthroat) - I tried this card on the deck a long time, but it does the same as any chip 1/1 vampire token :/
Vona, Butcher of Magan (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Vona%2C+Butcher+of+Magan) - 7 life is very high, usually I don't have to worry about destroying things, the game is over before that. i really preffer Licia, Sanguine Tribune (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Licia%2C+Sanguine+Tribune), but i don't use it in my build too.
Malakir Cullblade (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Malakir+Cullblade)  - weak... I'll explain what to replace.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
2 - Replacements

Rakish Heir (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Rakish+Heir) in place of Malakir Cullblade (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Malakir+Cullblade): Rakish is better and too fast than Cullblade, in early game if you worry about removing creatures, you will not play creatures and your game will be slow. Rakish improve your vamps at combat damage...
I usually play 1 vamp in turn 1 and make 1 token
in turn 2 I play another vamp and put another token > in turn 3 with him on the field the chance of the 4 vampires gain his marker is very high since someone is still going to be ramping.
or you can put Metallic Mimic (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Metallic+Mimic) (but i don't like)

Knight of the Ebon Legion (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Knight+of+the+Ebon+Legion) for me it's the best drop 1 vamp, and Dusk Legion Zealot (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Dusk+Legion+Zealot) is a good replacement for Cruel Celebrant (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Cruel+Celebrant): draw is ever welcome and is monoB and easier to play.

Mirror Entity (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Mirror+Entity): i hate put other types at tribals, even a changeling (even knowing Changeling is a vampire too, so put the eminence token) but this card is broken: changing the base status of all your creatures at instant speed and without even needing to attack or be affected by summoning sickness to activate the ability is insanely strong in the late game.

i preffer  Vanquisher's Banner (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Vanquisher%27s+Banner) than Door of Destinies (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Door+of+Destinies) cause the draw!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3 - Other good Synergies
Pillar of Origins (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Pillar+of+Origins) - an owesome tribal ramp
Cathars' Crusade (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Cathars%27+Crusade) + Cauldron of Souls (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Cauldron+of+Souls): Your creatures are immortals and gigantic full of 1/1 counters
Blood Tribute (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Blood+Tribute) + tapping Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Vito%2C+Thorn+of+the+Dusk+Rose) to pay the kicker cost = insta kill
Forerunner of the Legion (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Forerunner+of+the+Legion), a 3x1 card creature > token > tutor

that's all i can feedback... sorry for the big text, i hope it help your gameplay!

As i said, i play Edgar too, so if you want, give a  look at my deck and feedback me too!!!
