Hi memnach,
your is just an assumption, there are not useless cards in this decklist.
I suppose you are talking about main Spellskite (http://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=en&card=Spellskite) and Relic of Progenitus (http://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=en&card=Relic+of+Progenitus).
This is a correct meta choice since the T1 decks (burn and delver) suffer a lot from these cards.
Maybe these cards are not useful in a small meta like your local shop but for a bigger event like a GP or PTQ they are great choices.
