Yesterday I won a multiplayer round against 3 opponents, the first one was killed by 'Consuming Aberration (http://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=en&card=Consuming+Aberration)' and the other ones were milled down by 'Traumatize (http://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=en&card=Traumatize)' and 'Jace, Memory Adept (http://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=en&card=Jace%2C+Memory+Adept)'. It was an impressive round and all the mechanisms worked the way they should.

Won a round few days ago, but it was pretty close because of inadequate Mana and hell of luck on my enemys side. Got 1 Life left but milled the enemy down.

I've got a couple of suggestions that might actually make your deck run better. 1. Emphasis more on the Dimir guild's creatures such as the deathcult rough (http://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=en&card=Rough), undercity informant, and mortus strider (http://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=en&card=Mortus+Strider). Also if you add the trepanation blade (http://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=en&card=Trepanation+Blade) from innistrad (the artifact that makes your opponent mill AND increase the attack of the creature that is attacking. Also playing cards that have cipher and also effects that make your opponent mill lands are fantastic because no lands equal no gameplay. Also another innistrad throwback is the card called ghostly flicker (http://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=en&card=Ghostly+Flicker). If you have two balustrade vampires and then flicker (http://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=en&card=Flicker) them....lets just say that graveyards fill up fast.

@G.Moto - Nice Suggestions, thx. But it seems to be a good idea for another mill Deck. Mortus Strider (http://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=en&card=Mortus+Strider) and Deathcult Rogue (http://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=en&card=Deathcult+Rogue) were in it a long time ago and I cutted them out. I didn't know the trepanation blade (http://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=en&card=Trepanation+Blade). It's damn nice! Ghostly Flicker (http://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=en&card=Ghostly+Flicker) is also a good idea, never heard of that :D

@max2519 try to cut the Jwar Isle Refuge (http://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=en&card=Jwar+Isle+Refuge) and fill them with standard lands. Should push the speed a bit!

     As far as speed goes there are multiple ways to do this, either;

1) Play cheaper spells,
2) Use cards that reduce the overall CMC of the cards you play,
3) Use cards that have long standing effects on the dual with minimum effort on your part (like playing impact tremors (http://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=en&card=Impact+Tremors) which automatically deals damage just by playing creatures).

     Also when in doubt SLOW THEM DOWN. If you can't make your deck faster then hinder (http://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=en&card=Hinder) them as much as possible until you get your desired board state. You don't have to play control, just add cards that work for your deck AND hold them back. This can also be done through methods such as;

1) Discard
2) EXTENSIVE mill
3) Bouncing creatures
4) Constant board wipes
5) Shift their focus from you onto a bigger threat ( like an unblockable 5/5 creature with double strike or constantly playing the same card that messes them up like playing polluted dead (http://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=en&card=Polluted+Dead) + bone splinters (http://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=en&card=Bone+Splinters) + any card that returns it back to your hand or field).

     It's the use of varying tactics that make certain decks work better than others. Once you find out how your deck is supposed t work then it's simply a matter of getting the cards for the job. I hope some of this was helpful for you.

     IT's not a problem, I suggest holding on to that list though. It's a pretty good template to go by when building varying decks, it really shows you the strengths and weaknesses of certain builds.

  That's a great card. Recommended methods of use: either find a way to make the spell cost cheaper, Don't use both effects in the same turn, and when the spell turns into a creature immediately bounce it right back to your hand. This way it go back to being a spell and you can re-use it for its mill effect. Unsummon (http://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=en&card=Unsummon) and into the void (http://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=en&card=Into+the+Void) would be good choices. This way you don't have to risk it attacking just to put it back into your hand.

  Heavy mill. If you play it at the right time you'll rip apart their mid-late game strategies. Just make sure that you have the mana to dump into it at all the right times. This way you're not caught out there with all your mana tapped. You're playing blue so counter spells will be your best line of defense.

A good card to combo with startled awake (http://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=en&card=Startled+Awake) is fraying sanity (http://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=en&card=Fraying+Sanity). Also isn't jace the mind sculptor (http://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=en&card=Jace%2C+the+Mind+Sculptor) banned in modern?

 Technically this deck is considered legacy. Checking all the cards in this set these particular cards came up as "FRONTIER" instead of "MODERN": wall of frost (http://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=en&card=Wall+of+Frost), profane memento (http://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=en&card=Profane+Memento), mind sculpt (http://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=en&card=Mind+Sculpt), and urborg, tomb of yawgmoth (http://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=en&card=Urborg%2C+Tomb+of+Yawgmoth). Try removing those and if at the bottom of the "set" column changes then it should be modern legal.
