Title: New: Specify the set of your cards!
Post by: Nils on October 09, 2014, 02:41:01 pm
One feature that has been requested over and over again here on DeckStats is the ability to specify which set a certain card should come from. This is why I am very happy to announce that this is now finally possible! :)

You can now specify the set of each card in your deck by adding [ABC] in front of the card name, where ABC is the abbreviation for the set you would like to use!

For example, to create a deck with Mountains (http://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=en&card=Mountain) from Unglued and Lightning Bolts (http://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=en&card=Lightning+Bolt) from Alpha, you would write:

Code: [Select]
4 [UGL] Mountain
4 [LEA] Lightning Bolt

You can see the result here: http://deckstats.net/deck-5055116-bb438632db888f0426bf7c9de8ed4ba1.html

As you can see, prices will be displayed for the selected set where available (currently only EU card prices, but this will be expanded soon). In addition, the visual spoiler, hand simulator and the deck proxies will also use the card images from the set you specified.

Enjoy! :)

Update: If you are using the interactive deckbuilder, you can now simply specify the set of a card by clicking on the three dots in the "Set" column!

is it possible to specify promo cards, like full art Phalanx Leader (http://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=en&card=Phalanx+Leader)?

is there a link or a place we can have a list of the abbreviation of the set

and is there a way too specifie a textless card like the zendikar one

Here is a list of all the sets in our database: http://deckstats.net/sets/

At the moment most promo sets won't work yet (they also usually don't have an abbreviation specified), but I am looking into adding these in the future.

Since promo are not that usual, perhaps you could implement them as new "sets" with [PRO] for instance. But there are some cards that have been promo on different occasions, so perhaps [PR1], [PR2] and so on. (maybe [PC1] for Promo Card sounds better)

Great site!! Go on like this

Cheers

I tried specifying BFZ for my Canopy Vista (http://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=en&card=Canopy+Vista) and Prairie Stream (http://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=en&card=Prairie+Stream) , but it still shows expedition lands... is there a way around this?

Also is there a way to specify a specific Land art?

The idea is great and thanks for that. However, when pointing on the card name and displaying card image it does not consider selected set. Would be great if you could improve this. Thanks a lot.

Hi, i try to change Godless Shrine (http://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=en&card=Godless+Shrine) from expedition lands to Return to ravnica [RTR]. I know that the displaying card image is in BFZ but in my list i'v got a "?" when i set the [RTR].

regards

I don't think this card was ever printed in RTR itself, only in GTC within the RTR block. So you would have to use [GTC] instead of [RTR].

Tried:
1 [TMP] Ancient Tomb (http://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=en&card=Ancient+Tomb)
1 [ZEN] Arid Mesa (http://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=en&card=Arid+Mesa)

Although the correct set is listed in the Set column of the deck view, the hover over picture is the Expedition version.

I also noticed that the mouseover in the "Overview" and "Details" tabs ignores the specified sets. This sounds like a relatively easy fix, since the correct images are already available in the other tabs. Could you look into this?

This is sweet Nils!  Thanks.

I do agree with others, if the mouseover images and other details can be sync'd up or whatever, that would be icing on the cake.

When I put in 1 [SOI] Catalog (http://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=en&card=Catalog) it won't show the Shadows over Innistrad version, instead I get the Urza (http://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=en&card=Urza)'s one in the visual spoiler =( I also have the same issues as corbeau, the BFZ "slow" lands like Prarie Stream
show up as the expedition version even if I specify [BFZ]. And specifiying set codes for basic lands does not seem to work =(

I also wish set codes for masterpieces and the retroactively added zendikar expeditions would work, all masterpieces now have the set code MPS from wizards.

I love that we can specifiy set codes, thank you so much for that, I'm so grateful for the improvements that you've made to the deckbuilder! =)

Is there a way to specify (or default) the version of a card with multiple printings in the same set? i.e. Mishra's Factory (http://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=en&card=Mishra%27s+Factory) or Hymn to Tourach (http://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=en&card=Hymn+to+Tourach).

Right now deckbuilder just displays a "?" in the price section because it can't figure out which printing to use.

Also in the sets list, Anthologies and Introductory Two-Player Set do not display as Vintage legal, and Anthologies cards don't show up in the deckbuilder (I have an ATH Strip Mine (http://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=en&card=Strip+Mine) that displays as the Expedition one).

With this update, is it perhaps possible to support xmage .dck files?
Code: [Select]
/(\[[^:]+):[^\]]+\]/$1]/g
is the necessary regex replace per line.

Yes, XMage .dck files are now fully supported as well!

I'm running into an issue with my decks, where it doesn't remember the edition of the basic lands, and is seemingly picking at random the editions to display on the page it self. Which makes me think that it isn't actually keeping track of what I'm putting in from save to save.

Same thing here.
Editions are not remembered after deck edit/save.

Sorry about that, there was indeed a bug where the deckbuilder could "forget (http://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=en&card=Forget)" the set when editing. I have fixed this now. Thank you for the detailed description, which helped me track this down quickly!

Is there any way to highlight an entire deck and change the set? Like for instance a Commander 2016 deck, they should all be C16.
Title: Re: New: Specify the set of your cards!
Post by: Keovar on December 16, 2017, 04:39:49 pm
Add another request for a way to mass-select and choose the set for an entire deck at once, in the interactive builder.  I've been entering (http://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=en&card=Entering) things like Duel Decks or Commander decks as preconstructed before importing them into my collection, which can certainly be tedious when I have to scroll down to the '(others)' section for every entry.  The deck builder apparently knows what booster sets a card appeared in, but not the preconstructed products like Duel Decks.

Speaking of Duel Decks, there is no set selection for the Merfolk vs. Goblins one which came out on 2017.11.10.  It came out before Unstable, so it seems to have been skipped.

Thanks!

I am having trouble since the last weeks (not sure when it started), importing collections. I typically own most playsets of new collections (at least commons, uncommons and the rares/mythics i play), so it is easier to upload all at once.

Before I could import a list of cards by simply entering (http://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=en&card=Entering) in the text box something like:
4 Abandon Reason (http://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=en&card=Abandon+Reason) #[Set=147]
I did it all at the same time (the whole set)

Now entering (http://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=en&card=Entering) 4 Abandon Reason (http://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=en&card=Abandon+Reason) EMN in the text box does not work. If I use the Set number, it does not work either. So, i tried with the option of importing a CSV file, and it did work, at least to upload the Ixalan set.... but, for example, now I cannot upload the Merfolks vs Goblins Duel Decks (DDT is not recognized as a valid collection) and I cannot upload Explorers of Ixalan lists.

What I did in the past to know the collection number, was to enter one card manually, export the file and then searched for the card and noted the collection number. Which was not perfect, but did the trick.

Questions:

what am i doing wrong entering (http://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=en&card=Entering) manually a card?
why DDT is not recognized?
why Explorers of Ixalan (with new arts and new symbol) does not have a collection name/number? Can you include it?

thanks

glitch3d, Keovar:
The ability to change the set for multiple cards at a time is something I am working on at the moment. Stay tuned!

Keovar:
I added Merfolk vs. Goblins a few days ago: https://deckstats.net/cards/Duel+Decks%3A+Merfolk+vs.+Goblins/

Thank you for the reminder!

peldez65:
Sorry about this, there was a bug in the import function related to some changes I made a few weeks ago. This lead to cards with custom set IDs not being imported properly. I have just fixed this, so the import page should now accept the following two equivalent formats:

4 Abandon Reason (http://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=de&card=Abandon+Reason) #[Set=147]
4 [EMN] Abandon Reason (http://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?lng=de&card=Abandon+Reason)

I have just added Explorers of Ixalan to our card database: https://deckstats.net/cards/Explorers+of+Ixalan/

DDT should have already been getting recognized though. Could you please check again if putting [DDT] in front of the card name really doesn't work?

I have now added a mass edit feature to the deckbuilder! Just click on the "Select:" button under your deck list, select the cards you want to edit (or just click "All") and then click "Edit" to change the set!

peldez65:
Just to let you know: I have now also added a way to add entire entire sets to your collection! Just go to the set page (for example https://deckstats.net/cards/Ixalan/) and click "Add cards to collection"!

I just wanted to know when Commander Anthology vol. 2 is gonna be added to the database, you have Battlebond (released the same day) and core 19 (not even released yet???) was it an oversight or currently in progress? hoping for an answer.

Hey Nils is it possible to specify the artwork?
Like in Arena for example: 1 Forest (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Forest) (M19) 279, 1 Forest (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Forest) (RIX) 196, 1 Forest (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=de&card=Forest) (XLN) 277

I'd like to echo DragooNick, I'm having trouble specifying the artwork despite following the instructions earlier in this thread... which is now a multi-year thread. I've been using the interactive deckbuilder and am trying to select the set for Blood (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Blood) Crypts, but the image doesn't update after saving the deck, and it doesn't update in the proxy printout either.

Would really like to either learn the proper way to do this or see it fixed! Deckstats rulez

If you want to see specific artworks for printing proxies, you could use http://www.mtgpress.net/. If you split up similar cards into sereval lines, you can choose a different Artwork for each line.
I know, this is "just" a workaround, but since there are easy options if you want specific artworks, I'm not sure the result justifies the programming effort.

Signature Spellbook (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Spellbook): Jace is an option for a set.  But Signature Spellbook (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Spellbook): Gideon does not seem to be.  Specifically, I was looking to specify the Signature Spellbook (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Spellbook): Gideon version of Martyr's Bond (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Martyr%27s+Bond) in my Breaking (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Breaking) Eggs deck.

Thank You.

Hi,
I’ve noticed the cards in my decklist now always appear with the expansion (even if I didn’t specify one).
The feature is not bad per se, but it becomes an issue when I want to copy the list to another application. Cockatrice, for instance, doesn’t like those tags.
Could it be possible to somehow specify the format, when exporting decklists?

I know this isn't a good solution but this is how I've overcome (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Overcome) the problem: view card list, copy everything, paste into Excel and split columns using a custom delimiter (I think Deckstats uses #). Then I can just copy-paste the same list into a .txt-file but it has no comments, specified formats or any other additional data and it works.

Try this. In the deck editor, select all the cards in your deck (there is a convinient button for this). Then hit "edit" and under set, put "(automatic)". That should fix your problem.

Happy to hear that!

And yes, there was indeed a bug where it was showing the set code for every card, even if you hadn't specified a set. So it would have shown up no matter what you did. It only affected the Download .DEC button though.

There is another problem: now, once I edit a deck, all the expansion tags are removed.
Example: my Mairsil deck (http://deck.tk/24Hr1eXd).
I know for a fact that the cards in “Tutors” section were all tagged. I tried to add the expansion in the “Wheels” section but, once I saved, the tags in “Tutors” were gone. If I edit the deck again, the tags in “Wheels” will probably be lost too.
Note that I’m using the text editor.

Yes, turns out there was another related problem with the text-based editor. Good catch!

Hopefully I have now fixed this as well, so that the set codes will now show up where they should - but not where they shouldn't.

Please give it another try. If you had saved your deck before you realized the set codes had disappeared you can use the deck revisions feature to revert back to an older version.

I have other decks where I set all the tags. They appear correctly.
Also, Mairsil’s cards appear with no tags. This is correct as well.
It seems all fixed now. Thanks.

It will choose the most recent "normal" printing. This will usually be the most recent non-promo print in a normal set. This is often also the cheapest print but it's not guaranteed.

I have been exploring some options for letting you select the cheapest print instead but it's a bit complicated to do this in a consistent way.

Is there any way the Magic Premiere Shop sets could be added to the list of sets? For some reason, the Scryfall MPS set codes don't seem to work on here (for example PMPS11) and I'm unable to find any of the corresponding lands sifting through all the available sets...

+Edit: Or maybe someone knows why I can’t find them? Are they named differently here? Filtered out by Scyfall’s API or by Deckstats maybe? Is it because their text is in Japanese?
