Title: Krenko Royale

Last night at the game store I met a friend that I hadn't seen since the before-times. He had built a Krenko deck after being inspired when he saw my Krenko in action. We managed to encounter another person who also has a Krenko deck. My friend then pointed out that there was another guy across the room who also has a Krenko deck.

Do you get where I'm going with this?

We all agreed that either next week or the week after we are all going to pit our Krenko decks against each other. This means that I'll need to make some changes to my current list, and think about overall strategy to counter these decks. Want to help?

Blazing Volley (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Blazing+Volley) and Electrickery (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Electrickery) seem like auto includes in this situation.

No love for Vandalblast (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Vandalblast)?

I really like the flavor of this challenge. My first thought is to include an Urabrask the Hidden (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Urabrask+the+Hidden) style effect, though 5cmc might be too late for what it's trying to do.

I'm thinking that a good strategy is to aim for Goblin Sharpshooter (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Goblin+Sharpshooter). If I can give that thing haste I can kill all the goblin tokens as long as a buff effect doesn't show up.

From past experience with this deck I've learned that Shattering Spree (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Shattering+Spree) works better than Vandalblast (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Vandalblast). I'll likely want both here.

Yea, Shattering Spree (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Shattering+Spree) is definitely the one I prefer but it's hard to track down (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Track+Down) in my area. I'm suppose to be trading for one this weekend but I'm always looking for more.

The difference is that Coat of Arms (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Coat+of+Arms) will make blocking easier for your opponents, while with Goblin King (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Goblin+King) you can just wait to drop it until you can alpha-strike and your opponents will be unable to stop you. So maybe it could make sense to leave it (and if your plan doesn't work, I'm sure you'll have ways to sac it).

In both cases I run the risk of dying on the clap-back if I can't take out all my opponents in one shot. Both of these cards have a high risk of things going very bad for me if I can't guarantee having more creatures than my opponents. Goblin Assassin (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Goblin+Assassin) also has a risk attached to it, but I have a back-door escape, in that I can sacrifice it to it's own ability.

Oh wait I forgot to mention an important detail. One of the people in this game exclusively films his games. Not sure if he posts them online or not. Either way, it means my reputation is a stake, so I need to make sure I at least put up a good show.

MustaKotka has already promised to abandon me if I fail so this is serious.

New mission: find Krenko Royale VODs online ASAP; I need to see Morg choking away Krenko games. I would die laughing watching Morg drop Goblin King (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Goblin+King) thinking it's asymmetrical just to pass the turn and get slapped by 60 goblin tokens

Since you've got Blazing Volley (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Blazing+Volley) and Electrickery (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Electrickery) in, would Circle of Flame (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Circle+of+Flame) be something worth considering as well?

I'm starting to get worried about all of these 1 damage effects though. In that case, would you consider (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Consider) something like Mizzium Mortars (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Mizzium+Mortars)?

Organizing this with different schedules is proving to be difficult. Two of the people are in school so that's trouble because they often have to do homework and can't come out. Last week was reading week so I thought it was going to go down.

Everyone else is so nonchalant about this. "Hey it's fine, it'll happen when it happens." And meanwhile I'm losing my sanity over this. I need this to happen.

I have tried asking around to see if there is another Krenko player we could use as a replacement, but every time I find someone, they are actually playing Krenko, Tin Street Kingpin (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Krenko%2C+Tin+Street+Kingpin) and not Krenko, Mob Boss (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Krenko%2C+Mob+Boss). I will absolutely let you guys know when it does happen.
