Rather than Loxodon Smiter have you tried Anafensa Foremost? It Exiles your opponents creatures making it impossible for them to return a creature to play while still giving you that advantage. It also allows for +1/+1 during attacks which is a bonus. Grave Pact may be better than Dictate but only because it's cheaper and you can get it out one turn earlier. While this deck has a lot of potential I fear it's a little slow for Modern. Maybe adding some extra creature removal is in order to slow down the game while you get the combo going.

Proliferating Infect

(WIP) -- Infinite Combo to proliferate infect.
Step one cast Pentad Prism with 2 counters
Step two Get Inexorable Tide on the table
Step Three Cast a creature then cast a faerie impostor to bounce that creature, then cast a second faerie impostor bouncing the original and repeat this over and over while creating infinite mana with the Tide and Prism and also creating infinite infect in the process.

Treachery v1

This deck is built around pure control and manipulation. There are several synergies to consider. Willbreaker can be used to gain control of creatures, and if combine with Jolrael you can turn your opponents lands into creatures and with Willbreaker out they come under your control. You can also turn your opponents lands into creatures with Jolreal and then use bile blight to destroy them all. You also have several control aspects through the Disciple of the Ring which allows you to counter, tap, untap or buff creatures. Which if Willbreaker is out also allows you to take control of them. This is still a work in progress as I test and balance this deck idea.

General Magic / MTGO and getting cards from a new set
« am: Juli 31, 2015, 07:35:51 Nachmittag »
Just curious what peoples opinions are for getting new cards from the latest set.

Do you find it better to buy packs? Play Drafts? Play Sealed? Or do you just buy what you need?

Geth's Verdict wasn't something I was thinking of but I do like that better.
As for the mana fixing I usually do that once I start testing the deck. Since I'm at work this is something I haven't started play testing but the Temple of Deceit is def something that will get added and I I like the suggestion of DarkSlick shores. The only reason I didn't include that was because I don't actually own it.
Thanks again for the suggestions. This should be a fun deck to play and test :-)

Damnable Pact is awesome for this deck, which is why I added it... but I felt 4 copies was a little much. With as much cycling as there is in it I don't think it would be hard to grab one for a kill.
Oh I like Dakra Mystic instead of Temple Bell...
Small Pox, while crappy for my own creatures is in more as a turn 2 - 4 lockdown on the board to keep creatures off the table, cause a discard and also get around Boggle decks. I was considering something like foul-tongue Invocation but decided to go a little more damaging with smallpox.
I also did consider Day's Undoing, but I was trying to figure out the best place for it. I think I have it though.
Thanks for the suggestions!

I like the deck alot, but I agree with drunkcynic. Ditching the Ghirapur Gearcrafter in lieu of extra copies of Thopter Engineer, Clash, Ephiphany and Disperse and Definitely swap out the bonded construct for Ornithopter.

Seems a bit expensive and counter-intuitive when Liliana's Caress is gonna force 2 damage every time they discard a card. That being said, I think Price of Knowledge is a card worthy of a deck being built around it though. :-)

General Magic / Re: Reverse Sacrifice effect?

Yeah I think I'm gonna have to chalk this search up to an awesome idea for a card but maybe I misread it. Oh well. Next time I just need to make sure I write down the card name when I see it. Thanks for the help guys.

I believe it was a black and want to say it was a creature. This is what happens when you find a cool card and then don't write it down. lol
Positive it wasn't an instant (redirect) type of spell. It was something that remained in play.

General Magic / Reverse Sacrifice effect?
« am: Juli 22, 2015, 05:35:54 Nachmittag »
I remember at some point seeing a card that said (to summarize) if an effect an opponent controlled forces you to sacrifice a creature instead they sacrifice a creature. But none of my searches for that card are panning out. Anyone know of a card like this? Been trying a ton of different combinations of 'sacrifice' on gatherer with no luck.

Thanks!

Deck Comments / Re: Standard Turbo Fog - Comments

This is the same list used in SCG's Chicago open used by Newland. It did fairly well, Day's Undoing while seeming counter productive actually did help him win several games by recycling his fogs back into his hand when he ran out. But ultimately Matthew is right, this has no answer for Dromoka and putting that on the table basically kills this deck. Still I kinda like it :-)
