Deck Reviews / Re: [Standard] WB Servo Multicombo

I playtested it for the first time last FNM. First game was against RG energy. First game I beat him very quickly using Shefet dunes, attacking for 17 when he was at 14. However, I lost the second to third game because I got no lands. I mulliganed to 5 and 4, respectively, so I had at least one land in hand, but then I drew no lands for the rest of the game. Since it had 25 lands, I consider this a statistical outlier... The first game was really easy and fast though; I was impressed.

I also played against monoblack zombies. The deck was good at making blockers, but a 1/1 dies to a zombie so I lost the first game. Second game, I brought in Trespasser's Curse and Fumigate and became more of a control deck. Hidden Stockpile refills my supply of creatures after a wipe, so it doesn't hit me as badly. (Zombies mostly rely on creatures to make tokens.) I won the second game, ending on something like 25-30 life. Third game, I didn't draw Fumigate so I lost.

After playtesting, I'm gonna try to remove Throne of the God-Pharaoh and Herald of Anguish. Throne is too slow and relies on tapping out, which leaves you without blockers. Herald dies too easily. Also, it's counterproductive to both want to sacrifice servos to create more in the end step, and to leave servos tapped at the beginning of the end step. I am therefore going more toward sacrifice, bringing in more copies of Marionette Master. To deal with the big cost, I am gonna splash blue (easy because of Spire of Industry) for Tezzeret the Schemer. Anointed Procession doubles the number of Etherium Cells he creates, and cells also count toward Marionette Master's ability, and gives revolt to Hidden Stockpile.

To deal with land problems (the deck desperately needs to hit the first four land drops) and the fact that we need to trigger revolt to get Hidden Stockpile going, I'm bringing in Renegade Map and maybe more deserts.

WB Servo Multicombo

Creating a lot of servos using essentially the same engine as in Abzan tokens (Hidden Stockpile and Anointed Procession), but in stead of Cryptolith rites it uses some Improvise spells: Battle at the Bridge for removal and Herald of Anguish as a finisher/additional removal. Throne of the God-Pharaoh works well with Improvise, plus it effectively adds an extra power in case we decide to do a large-scale servo attack. Shefet Dunes is great as an uncounterable boost to attacking servos. Endless Sands is more of an experiment; it can protect important creatures as well as allow us to get the Fabricate ETB triggers twice. It can also be sacrificed to Shefet Dunes since it's a desert.

Besides large-scale attacks, herald, and throne, we have an additional combo win condition in Marionette Master and Yahenni, Undying Partisan: sacrifice the servos to Yahenni to end the opponent quickly. (Yahenni is a free sacrifice outlet, unlike the alternative: Syndicate Trafficker. That's why he's in and trafficker's out.)

I was really hung up on the idea of the Metallic Mimic + Animation Module combo for a while, but ultimately, I found it too ineffective. Mimic is a 1-toughness creature with a big bulls eye painted on top of him, and you would need him + module + brand new servo + mana to get anywhere.

Gideon, Ally of Zendikar is in there because he's ridiculously overpowered, especially in a deck with Anointed Procession and plenty of ways to protect him. I'm only running a single copy since I only have a single copy and he's about to rotate out of Standard. I'm gonna try to introduce Tezzeret the Schemer alongside Gideon (throwing in an Island and possible another dual land for blue mana; otherwise Spire of Industry is enough for a splash). He can create a lot of etherium cells which can be used for Improvise, sacrificed for Marionette Master, or just speed up our game. If he works, I will replace Gideon with Tezzeret post rotation.

Sideboard: Toolcraft Exemplar and Metallic Mimic to go aggro against control. Oketra the True for persistence against removal. Trespasser's Curse against other "go wide" decks such as Tokens and Zombies. Fumigate for board wipe (Hidden Stockpile can refill the servo supply after wiping.)

(Shambling Vent is strictly better than Forsaken Sanctuary, but I don't have any and they will rotate in a month, so ...)

Deck Reviews / [Standard] GB Constrictor

GB Constrictor

A GB constrictor deck which uses both gearhulks and hydras, with some servants thrown in for ramp. Sideboard serpopard is awesome against blue control decks (at least it was last FNM). I have been continuously tweaking it and I appreciate any helpful suggestions or opinions.
