The non-viability of aggro and burn due to inflated starting life total. Funnily enough, that is why lifegain feels weak and suicide black strategies involving Necropotence and company are really strong. Lifegain doesn't matter as much when you already have enough and paying life isn't really a limitation when your starting life total doesn't put you at risk for abusing it.

That's actually a great point!

The best option there that I don't already have in my deck is Lightning Runner. And it's honestly not that good. 5 mana for a 2/2 double strike haste is meh and its extra combat step ability takes 4 turns to actually work.

The rest of the options are either not good, don't fit here, or are already in my deck.

Good idea, though!

Blood Mist, Avatar of Slaughter und similar cards could help with the double strike issue.

Sweet, Mesmerizing Benthid. Cool card, but there are probably better things to polymorph into, sadly.

If you want my general thoughts, then here they are:

Use less "small" value creatures and play token creation cards instead, while reserving those sweet polymorph slots in your deck for big creatures only, or creatures that create more tokens, like Talrand, Sky Summoner and Murmuring Mystic. You have some notable creatures of that category, namely Nadir Kraken and Chasm Skulker. If you want to go the polymorph route, focus hard on that. Your opponents should dread you untapping with Jalira. Here are some resources. Heavy control is probably necessary, because good players won't let you untap with a card that says "2U, T, sacrifice a creature: Put your choice of eldritch horror onto the battlefield."

Regarding untapping, you already use Magewright's Stone, why not add Thousand-Year Elixir, too? You could cut Helm of the Host for that, since it's just a lot of mana spent for nothing when your plan is already working.

May I add "classes" to the long list of tribes that could use more love? Warriors and Wizards had gotten some, even decent Commanders. More love for Rogues, Shamans and, the new addition, Warlocks! Lorwyn block seems to be a great prototype for those.

Probably Thalia, Guardian of Thraben, Secret Lair Edition, by Johannes Voss. Note the little UwU-Emrakul in the top left corner. Also, the sheer emotion the artwork conveys is powerful.

I really dig Seasoned Pyromancer, too. Young Pyromancer all grown up!

A new Planeswalker subtype is basically confirmed, since we're getting a Jeska Planeswalker, judging by the artwork. (Also, I remember hearing or reading that's a Planeswalker artwork, can't find the source currently).

Something that has been hinted at in Battle for Zendikar, iirc:

[name] enters the battlefield tapped.
When [name] enters the battlefield, add one mana of any color.
T: Add [color]

Where [color] is the respective colored mana of the land type.

Edit: A better version of Crumbling Vestige, essentially. Fetchable, makes mana the turn it comes in, after that it would be a basic land that has all the drawbacks of a nonbasic land (unless you start flickering).

Let me tell you a story of a janky night...

At the time of M21 spoilers, a new red card was revealed, its name Transmogrify, a proper red Polymorph. Thanks to Lukka, Coppercoat Outcast and Indomitable Creativity, the Polymorph type spell density has increased. Mix it with some rummaging and rituals, as well as token creation. Stir violently and add a just a pinch of Emrakul, the Aeons Torn (or your fatty of choice). I present to you: Mono Red Polymorph

The basic idea is to whip out turn three Emrakul. I don't know how I could improve it further without adding Faithless Looting, which is banned, sadly.

Example sequence:

T1 Mountain, Satyr's Cunning
T2 Mountain, Thrill of Possibility
T3 Mountain, Desperate Ritual, Transmogrify

Of course it's not exactly resilient, but somehow quite consistent.
Do your worst!

Edit:

Nut draw means turn 2 Emmy, which isn't that unlikely:

T1 Mountain, Satyr's Cunning
T2 Mountain, Pyretic Ritual, Pyretic Ritual, Indomitable Creativity

Much more unlikely, but still possible would be the combination of three rituals and Lukka.

Transmogrify is a card that will enable masterful Mono Red Jank. Who doesn't want to play a Turn Three Emrakul, the Aeons Torn?

Turn 1 Mountain -> Satyr's Cunning, Bolt, etc. Bolt some bird.
Turn 2 Mountain -> Dragon Fodder or Forbidden Friendship or Spawning Breath (with Satyr's Cunning)
Turn 3 Mountain -> Infernal Plunge, sacrifice one of your two or three creatures, have RRRRR, cast either Indomitable Creativity for X=1, Lukka, Coppercoat Outcast or Transmogrify on a remaining token creature. Enjoy Emrakul and watch your opponent having mixed feelings of awe and fear.

I'm not really sure what I want, but I do like octopus.

Cephalids seem like a good representation. Other than that, I second Dwarves. Dwarven Blastminer let's go!

As for abilities, Dwarves could be masters of tinkering, small artifact (token) interaction and of course mining aka land destruction. That also incorporates the current Dwarves.

Personally, the cmc is too high for my taste. I'd rather use an inexpensive recursion spell or countermagic.

I can see the appeal for Aristocrats with central creatures though. Double that up if you can flip it down again to create a morph speed sac outlet (a sentence I would've never thought to type down). Notable other options include:

Fight as One, Boros Charm, Withstand Death, Sheltering Light, Karametra's Blessing, Heroic Intervention, Ajani's Presence, Unlikely Aid, Inspiring Call and a powerful new addition in Flawless Maneuver (I wish it would say permanents to synergize with Armageddon).
