About Deckstats / Re: New: Visual Deckbuilder

How do you trigger this option on / off? It is useful for certain things and I think its a great add, but there are some situations where just the text version would be good too.

Commander Discussion / Building a Battlebox - Next Deck
« em: Abril 10, 2020, 10:26:15 pm »
I am working on a collection of Commander decks to have as a pool for friends to choose from, and this is what I have so far:

[[Marath]] - Dino tribal w/enrage heavy

[[Yuriko]] - Normal ninja shenanigans here, not fully combo optimized

[[Xenagos]] - Creature heavy

[[Konrad]] - Self mill and some drain

[[Wort]] - Gruul spellslinger w/big X payoffs

[[Sylvia]] and [[Khorvath]] - Double strike dragons

I want to keep the collection to about 8 decks or so, what other decks do you think would be good to add to this?

What are some good other archetypes I am missing out on? At first glance I see no real graveyard decks, what else can you think of?

I am thinking of a [[Kalamax]] control deck and a [[Multani]] straight voltron deck as my current options, just because I already owe a Multani and Kalamax goes well with some of my current dinos.

Let me know your thoughts and thanks for your time!

Hello!

I completely forgot embercleave was in there. Idk why. Had the deck list open in the other tab. Now I think putting embercleave on Godo is pointless because godo is just so small. I think the intention is to out it on something bigger than him, yes? Just using him for the tutor of the equipment. If that's the case, I'd recommend a card like rage reflection or berserkers' onslaught. I am pretty sure there is a 4 mana enchantment that has you give a target creature double strike every combat for that turn. Cant think of the name. Sure you cant flash this out, but they're still pretty decent. No reequip costs. I mean embercleave is fine, so you could really ignore those suggestions, but I still dont think it is worth playing Godo. Play another big fatty. Do you own any eldrazi titans? They would be great includes, along with Darksteel Colossus and Blightsteel Colossus. I am not sure if you're running rancor or triumph of the hordes. I'm on my phone and it's so tedious trying to open your deck on here, but if you arent, I'd reccomend both of those cards.

I do think you need more cards that scale as the game goes on. Primordial hydra is good. Really any x creature cards and cards like managorger hydra.

Godo actually has a cool interaction with Embercleave! You can find and put Embercleave on the field with his trigger, it equips for free thanks to the Embercleave trigger, then you haste and double him with Xenagos. This makes him a 8/8 double strike and trample in the first combat stage for 16 damage, then the Godo extra combat trigger goes off and you double him again with Xenagos making him a 16/16 double strike and trample for 32 damage in the second combat phase. 48 trample damage for 6 mana aint too bad!

I'm wary of too many X cards because they just die if you put them on the battlefield with Genesis Wave or Lurking Predators or some of the other cost-cheating cards in the deck. But it is certainly good to have some flexible threats, so I will definitely include a few!

The deck is actually pretty balanced in terms of the number of each thing in each category.

One card that sticks out is Ruric Thar, the Unbowed. This card is entirely meta dependent. Are you going up against other stompy or aggro, well really just any creature based decks? Do your games usually end in combat damage? If so, then probably, yes. So I would run something else instead. This slot would be almost like a silver bullet slot for whatever is prominent in your meta. If zombies are a problem, Grafdigger's Cage, if Yarok is a problem, Torpor Orb. Whatever you need. Heck maybe just pithing needle if you are going against some decks like Krenko or something.

Godo, Bandit Warlord does absolutely nothing. You are running no equipment and no Samurai. This leads me to my next point. A lot of your fatties aren't too fat. You want big boys like Worldspine Wurm or guys that become big like Protean Hydra. I would suggest looking into cards like Managorger Hydra and Forgotten ancient as they come down early and are a threat late game. What budget are we on? If you are running fatties, Selvala, Heat of the Wild would be a great include. Oh, you're running Sylvan Library, so no budget, got it.

Red, thanks for the comments!

There are a lot of spellslinger decks in my meta, so I thought Ruric could be a good way to get some chip damage in, making it easier for my fatties to finish them off?

Godo is in there for the Embercleave combo I have going on, but Godo + Embercleave takes up two slots, so maybe I should switch those out for Worldspine Wurm and Forgotten Ancient (I already own a copy of Forgotten Ancient)? Thoughts on Godo vs some of the other fatties?

My budget here is about $150, but that's a little deceiving because I already own some of the expensive stuff including Sylvan Library, Primordial Hydra, Ghalta, and a lot of the lands.

Looking for some advice on my last 3 cuts for Xenagos: https://deckstats.net/decks/121552/1504688-xenagos-creature-spam

I have tried to make this deck mostly creatures, for some flavor and also to take advantage of things like Ruric Thar, Genesis Wave, etc.

I think I Need to keep at least 10 sources of draw to make sure I can draw past extra mana dorks in the end game, but I should probably keep my ramp creatures around 15 to make sure I get the two I need to get Xenagos out on turn 3.

Any thoughts on what can go? I appreciate your time!

Deck Reviews / Wort X
« em: Julho 05, 2019, 12:20:58 am »
Alright yall, MH1 came out and I saw [[Unbound Flourishing]] and just had to build a deck around it. Here it is so far:

https://deckstats.net/decks/121552/1331573-wort-x-budget

Obviously, I need to cut about 20 cards, any thoughts? Are the Hydras too greedy? Is there too much ramp? Are the copy spells redundant with Wort in the command zone?

Would love to hear your thoughts, thanks!

Deck Reviews / Fitting Smothering Tithe into Marath Dinos
« em: Maio 16, 2019, 05:41:42 pm »
I am tweaking my Marath Enrage Dinos list:

https://deckstats.net/decks/121552/1210001-faster-marath-enrage-dinos

And I am looking to fit in a Smothering Tithe. My initial thought is to swap it out for Quicksilver Amulet? I have 12 creatures with a CMC of 5+ that would be targets for  Quicksilver Amulet, but I am thinking that the repetitive nature of Smothering Tithe should get more value in total.

What do you think? Are there other obvious cuts instead of Quicksilver Amulet?

Deck Reviews / Creatures for Multani?
« em: Março 20, 2019, 04:30:07 pm »
I am finishing up my semi budget [[Multani]] deck: https://deckstats.net/decks/121552/1233046-multani-budget-ish

The basic gameplan here is ramp a lot, get out Multani and other impactful creatures, and smash face.

I am trying to ensure that most of my high CMC creatures have some sort of mana sink to use the extra lands from ramp, or are otherwise very impactful. With that in mind, I am trying to fit in the two creatures in the sideboard: [[World Breaker]] and [[Lifeblood Hydra]].

What are your thoughts on these creatures? Should they make the cut, and if so, what to replace? I was considering replacing [[Stonehoof Chieftain]], but is that indestructible too good to give up, even though it is pretty conditional?

Thanks for your input!

Working on my Multani budget-ish deck: https://deckstats.net/decks/121552/1233046-multani-budget-ish

Do you think running 36 lands is enough here? I am running 17 land ramp cards as well, trying to pump up Multani to smash some faces.

What do you think should be dropped for more lands or other cards?

General Magic / What’s your tech to boost Marath’s counters?
« em: Março 13, 2019, 01:17:27 pm »
I’m working on improving my Marath Enrage Dinos list (https://deckstats.net/decks/121552/1210001-faster-marath-enrage-dinos/en) and I’m looking for some more tech to help build up the +1/+1 counters on Marath.

I’m already running [[Hardened Scales]] and I’m looking at adding an [[Illusionist’s Bracers]] to replace my [[Inspiring Call]] which has been underwhelming so far.

Any other thoughts on how to build up the stack of counters on Marath?

Thanks for the help!

Deck Reviews / Re: Finding a spot for Mask of Memory
« em: Fevereiro 20, 2019, 01:52:44 pm »
Thanks for the replies GolgariFTW, Soren and ApothecaryGiest!

I think your point is well taken about Domri Rade, Mask of Memory will definitely create more consistent card draw with my number of creatures.

What are your thoughts on Evolving Wilds and Terramorphic Expanse? I put them in to provide some early color fixing to allow me to get Marath out on time. As far as other lands I have that could replace them, I have some scry lands and bounce lands, as well as additional basics of course. Which do you think make the most sense and why?

Decklist: https://deckstats.net/decks/121552/1210001-faster-marath-enrage-dinos/en

Trying to get some more card draw in here, Mask of Memory in particular.

Thinking about what to cut, but I’m in a dilemma:

1. At 22 Dinos, I think I’m approaching the point where cutting creatures is a bad idea. I need to maintain enough mass of creatures to make sure I can get some bodies down.

2. Ramp - 10 ramp seems to be a minimum, and with some expensive bombs, I need the ramp.

3. Removal - I already pulled a Krosan Grip to add a ramp card, which may be a bad idea, but it would be hard to cut any more removal.

Maybe pull something from the Boost/Wincons category or Answers? What do you think?

Deck Reviews / Re: Marath, Lord of Dinos
« em: Fevereiro 14, 2019, 02:23:52 pm »
Ylhyssia, thanks for the response!

As far as cheating creatures in, I am looking at adding an Elvish Piper, and maybe a Wild Pair as well, even though Wild Pair doesn't really solve the mana issue.

Traverse the Outlands is a good call for some additional ramp, any other thoughts on how to cheat out some big creatures?

My problem with Mirari's Wake is that it gives Marath +1/+1 without giving it in the form of a counter. This means that if I bring Marath in, use his abilities and get rid of his +1/+1 counters, he will be stuck at 1/1 without a good way to return him to the command zone.

Do you have any ideas about other good mana doublers or tribal cost reducers?

Thanks!

Hmm, I figured that a 7/6 hexproof, trample for 6 seems good in a format with a decent amount of single-target removal? But it doesn't give me any enrage value and it is another expensive bomb unfortunately.
