I think that relic is more of a sideboard card personally. You could bring in thalia and isolate if needed.

I'm not sure the usefulness of Resplendent Mentor. It taps your creatures and keeps them from attacking or blocking. If you're looking for cheap life gain I'd recommend,  ordeal of Heliod or something similar like Mortal Ardor.

Don't forget to upvote if you like ;)

Unlimited Mana combo (under $2)

Suggestions and likes welcomed. Explained below:

Unlimited Mana Combo ($2)
2 Myr Galvanizer
1 Palladium Myr

1) Tap Palladium +2 Mana
2) -1 Mana Tap Galvanizer which untaps Palladium (Net +1 Mana)
3) Tap Palladium +2 Mana
4) -1 Mana Tap your Second Galvanizer which untaps Palladium and your 1st Galvanizer (Now + 2 Mana)
5) Repeat infinite times

**If Palladium or Galvanizer gets killed you can use a Myr Welder to copy and ability from the graveyard. You can also use Twinflame to copy a Galvanizer if you only have one in play. **

The main card in this deck is Twinflame which allows you to copy any creature card in the deck. This is important because many creatures have enter the battlefield mechanics that will trigger when the token enters the battlefield, such as draw cards or create tokens.

For example Myr Battlesphere can be copied to add an extra 4 1/1 Myr tokens. Since the copy has haste you can attack with it. The second ability will trigger in which you can tap all your Myr creatures (probably greater than 10 at this point) to deal direct damage to your opponent. You can then untap them all with Myr Galvanizer, who strengthens them. You'll probably deal lethal with attack damage. A similar theory is applied with Precursor Golem.

Since most of your deck is high cost Combustible Gearhulk can deal allot of damage or make you draw allot of cards. Since you can copy him you can draw over and over.

Win conditions are taking damage from opponent or winning with Hellkite Tyrant due to the shear number of artifact tokens made equaling 20 real fast.

For faster mana you could add steam vents and remove 2 Island and Swamp.

Twin Flame unlimited mana combo

Let me know what you think:

Wow, what a fun deck!!

The main card in this deck is Twin Flame which allows you to copy any creature card in the deck. This is important because many creatures have "enter the battlefield" mechanics that will trigger when the token enters the battlefield, such as draw cards or create tokens.

The unlimited combo is simple you need 2 Myr Galvanizers and 1 Palladium Myr on the field. You can use Twin flame to make an extra copy of Galvanizer or Myr Welder to copy the one you need from the graveyard. Essential tap your Palladium Myr then use the Myr Galvanizer to untap. You net 1 mana. Repeat again only using your second Galvanizer. Do this 1 million times and you get unlimited mana for turn.

Win conditions are taking damage from opponent or winning with Hellkite Tyrant due to the shear number of artifact tokens made equaling 20 real fast.

I would consider using obelisk of urd over honor of the pure.

You think I should replace inky over harsh scrutiny?

Thank you all for the suggestions.

I know this matchup may be tough against burn. That's one of the reasons I've excluded fetch lands or Thoughtseize main board to avoid life loss. I figured if I need it in there I could side board it in. My thought is that I could swiftly get the opponents cards down to zero thus I'd only face minimal burn damage as I would make them discard allot.

Fatal push is a great card however the goal is to discard those cards before they even become a battlefield threat.

Great suggestions,  keep em coming!

Deck Reviews / [Modern] Mono Black Discard Control (Beats top 8 Decks)

Mono Black Discard Control (Beats top 8 Decks)

This deck's main design is to control the hand  and destroy any lands relied upon by your opponent. It's a spin off of 8 Rack to be more control and focused on discard and destroying lands. Any feedback is welcome. Below is my idea behind my deck.

Opening ideally starts with 1 or 2 swamps with cards on the mana cost curve. Best move is to play Inquisition of Kozilek or Harsh Scrutiny to look at the hand of the opponent and make them discard the biggest threat. Scrutiny is valuable due to the scry feature as well as the ability to remove any early creature threats as this deck runs 0 creatures. We side board Thoughtseize and Duress against other decks that do not run creatures to eliminate spell threats mostly removing Ensnaring Bridge a powerful stop to creature pressure.

The main draw power comes from Sword-Point Diplomacy which can do up to 9 damage to the opponent or draw us 3 cards for 3 mana.

The goal is to reduce the opponent to top deck draw strategy.  We can make them discard a variety of ways but Shrieking Affliction and Liliana's Caress makes them pay. Smallpox hits enemy hard but not us as we have no creatures, and can return land with Crucible of Worlds. Also,  we can use Field of Ruin and Ghost Quarter over and over to utterly destroy the opponents mana base.

One of the most fun ways to make a person discard is by using Geier Reach Sanitarium.

This deck is nasty and relentless.

Feedback is welcome. Please like and give credit for the design.  Enjoy!

Budget:
Liliana Vess instead of Liliana of the Veil
Yahenni's Expertise instead of Ensnaring Bridge
Swamp instead of Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth
Duress instead of Crucible of worlds

That's a great suggestion that would play into the land destroy theme.

Double D

Budget destroy land and discard.

The goal is to destroy the opponents land base while controlling their hands and making them draw.

What do you think?

Not sure if collateral damage would trigger Zada ability because it didn't "target". But I like where you're going with this, could be another working piece in a deck. I'll check out you decks!

Yeah, great suggestions! I thought about wild slash but never really have a creature that's 4 or greater to keep it from being countered. Avaricious Dragon is also a great idea, I'll have to think I'm it, solely because the goal will be that thunderbreak will be a threat and if targeted with more than 1 on the field could mean certain death to the opponent. Not sure if I should do 4 dragons out, if I did I probably would do 3 thunder 1 avaricious, but not sure what creature I would cut to make room for the fourth. At the end of the day the deck is aggro so I'll try 3 and let you know. Thanks again! Please like it!
