Fire & Lightning Mark IIb

It's a Burn Deck with a slight twist using the old Fire & Lightning Premium Deck as a base. Thoughts?

Thopter Transformations Mk. II

Main Plan: Get as many Thopters out as possible (at least 3-4), then change them to Dragons. Repeat as often as possible.

The biggest problem I'm having is speed. By the time I get enough creatures out for Descent of the Dragons to be worth it, I'm either close to losing or have already lost. Any ideas on how to speed this deck up?

That's what I've heard for the total number of lands, but what I mean is how many Basic Lands (Swamps, Islands, Mountains, Forests, Plains) as compared to non-Basics (Frontier Bivouacs, Rugged Highlands, etc.) is considered the optimum number.

Back in the game after a long hiatus and was curious as to what players thought the minimum number of Basic Lands in a deck should be given the existence of cards like Evolving Wilds. The current deck I'm running has 3 of each Basic Land between the Main Deck and Sideboard, is that considered too little nowadays even with the Standard legal dual-lands out there?

Thanks for spotting that. I completely missed it, total noob mistake that reflects the fact I just got back into MTG after a long hiatus. Swap them out for a 4th Sagu Archer and an Ashcloud Phoenix.
