Turbo Fog, a.k.a. "How to lose a friend in 30 minutes"Dopo circa dieci anni di interruzione mi riaffaccio al mondo di MTG. Ai tempi, ragazzino, giocavo mazzi tipicamente fun con gli amici, ora invece vorrei puntare a qualcosa di un po' più
consapevole.
Diciamo che questa volta ho fatto i compiti, ho studiato regole, carte e metagame attuale prima di mettermi a spendere per fare un mazzo.
Ho pensato a un mazzo che possa partecipare a qualche torneo
locale senza causare nei miei avversari risa e schiamazzi. Non voglio per iniziare una cosa "per vincere", diciamo che ho puntato ad un mazzo "da metà classifica, magari metà alta".
Siamo già leggermente sopra a quel che volevo spendere, ma dopo un mese di test mi ci sono affezionato quindi amen, pagherò qualcosa in più.
Vediamo dunque il mio WUG Turbofog, a.k.a. "come perdere un amico in trenta minuti".
Dai primi test e dalle recensioni degli annoiatissimi avversari si tratta di un mazzo interessante, abbastanza odioso per la maggior parte dei mazzi contro cui ho giocato (e imparandolo a giocare meglio e soprattutto a sfruttare meglio la sideboard non posso che migliorare). Rispetto ai tradizionali Turbofog trovati in rete è un po' meno "turbo" (ho solo 4
Howling Mine e 2
Rites of Flourishing, che diventano due
Temple Bell dalla SB contro
scapeshift e tron per evidenti ragioni) e un po' più "macina".
Letale contro praticamente ogni aggro, soffre da bestia contro control e contro molti combo in g1, poi diventa più equilibrato. Quello che ho potuto notare è che essendo un mazzo fuori dal meta attuale, esistono nelle side dei mazzi aggro incontrati pochissimi counter contro esso.
Le finishers sono ovviamente i due (diversi) Jace,
Luminarch Ascension, e l'ultima carta che ho da pochissimo deciso di introdurvi cioè Ulamog, the Careless Hunger. Riguardo questa carta son ben consapevole che non sia ottimizzata per questo mazzo (che pur arriva spesso e volentieri ad avere il mana per usarlo), ma è oltremodo
figo, quindi mi tocca soprassedere. Quasi una finisher possono considerarsi se usate nei giusti momenti anche le due
Archive Trap.
Fondamentali ovviamente gli
Elixir of Immortality per evitare di automacinarmi, anche perché con una curva del mana così bassa si bruciano davvero tante carte a turno.
Ho in tutto 13 carte con effetto "
fog", che mi garantiscono assieme ai due
Silence ed alle tre
Wrath of God una buona longevità durante la partita. Dalla sideboard una piccola componente control che non guasta mai in un mazzo che difficilmente fa danni veri.
Reparto terre un po' dolente forse, le Fetch al momento costano troppo per le mie tasche, ma non le ritengo fondamentali in un mazzo così lento e che pesca così tanto. Molto utile in questo genere di mazzo è risultata
Reliquary Tower.
Regina della sideboard è
Leyline of Sanctity, risposta devastante contro molti mazzi se no ositici per me (penso ad esempio alla rapidità di un burn.
