Deckstats Feedback / New lists of decks and visual spoilers layouts
« on: September 23, 2024, 07:39:27 pm »
Hi,
I wanted to share some feedback about the new layouts for the lists of decks and visual spoilers, and ask for an option to toggle in the settings.
My main gripe with the bigger spacing between decks in the lists of decks (https://deckstats.net/decks/24547/) is that less decks are shown at the same time, and more scrolling is neccessary to get to the bottom. This less compact display means my eye need to travel bigger distances before finding what I seek. For these reasons I favor the previous, more condensed display.
That said, most of my friends prefer this new one as the less compact view give them an easier time identifying individual decks. I'd enjoy a toggle in the setting between the old compact and the new more spaced views.
It's about the same idea for the new visual spoiler page (https://deckstats.net/decks/24547/3319476-white-samurai-custom-jumpstart#show__spoiler): The new display has more spacing between groups, which means less shown at the same time and more distance to scroll or travel to find what I want. But here, even I must admit the new layout has perks! It's way easier to identify elements in very busy decks (commander comes to mind) and I enjoy it, but I also find it tedious when having to scroll to the bottom (the more categories the deck has, the longer the page becomes. Commander comes to mind ). The issue brought by the new display is arguably worse for small decks tho (like the jumpstart one I linked where 20 cards don't fit on one screen anymore).
Here my friends are less sold, and basically came to the same conclusion as me: the new view is either great or tedious, depending on what you're doing at the moment. I've been left wanting for a way to toggle back and forth between the old and current view, I think a small button in the top right corner of the spoiler view doing that would be great. .
My placeholder buttons are terrible, but you get the idea
All in all the new displays aren't terrible, but I prefer the old ones and figured I could post my feedback in the hope we get something out of it. Thank you for your continued work on deckstat.
