Deck Reviews / [Modern] Mono-Black Modern

Mono-Black Modern

Mono-black is always fun (though not usually for the opponent) - my attempt at a brew for Modern. I've tried to put in things that only black/swamps can do.

Plans are to disrupt opponent early on with discard and cards like Gifted Aetherborn to keep the board under control until the bigger hitters come out. From here, it is about getting the most value out of devotion to Black (obvious card choices here: Erebos, Gray Merch, Whip, Phyrexian)

I quite like Archfiend of Ifnir for the cycling. If our opponent wraths us or gives us a hard time there's always Tasigur/Gurmag to make use of our graveyard. I wonder about including Desecration Demon or Erebos's Titan in this deck somewhere. I even like the idea of Corrupt, though that seems a bit expensive for Modern.

Any feedback is welcome.

Junky Thing

Ideas:

Fetchlands/Life from the Loam

1) Vinelasher Kadzu benefits from the fetchlands - he's a Goyf replacement. (was considering Quinion Dryad, Skinshifter or good ol' Scooze). Loam can bring back fetchlands to pump the Vinelasher.

2) Worm Harvest is an interesting card that benefits from the fetches. It would also benefit from cycling lands too, but these are possibly too slow for Modern? Thoughts welcome on this.

Sideboard:

* I figured I quite like Bitterblossom against Midrange and Control stuff - SB as against Burn it is not so good and combo decks like Scapeshift it doesn't get the job done soon enough.

* Thoughtseize is always useful. The lifeloss is negated (potentially) by Kitchen Finks.

* Ratchet Bomb for when I *don't* have a board full of 1/1s and to counter things like Empty the Warrens etc.

Not sure if I've got the manabase totally right but it seems pretty smooth at the minute. Any feedback or suggestions are welcome.

Hello all, have a look at this. I wonder what you make of the concept and I would welcome any suggestions on a sideboard as not really sure what would complement it...It's a bit of Timmy deck, but there's a definite concept to it at the same time.
