Deck Reviews / [Standard] Sultai deck
« on: February 14, 2015, 05:05:58 pm »
Since this is my first attempt making a Sultai deck, I was hoping to get some opinions on this. I did a Magic draft last night with the goal of trying out a Sultai-esque deck, though it ended up short of ideal (as draft decks tend to do) and this is how I imagined my deck looking if it were ideal.

For the Horde!

This is my first attempt to create a Tarkir Clan-themed deck. Basically, the idea is to swarm the opponent under a tide of creatures, hopefully buffed by Trumpet Blast.

Untitled Deck

Haven't thought up a name for this one yet.

Multiple avenues of attack is this deck's strength and plan of attack. There's plenty of discarding and milling, as well as enough creatures (and ways to resurrect them) to chip away at the opponent's life.

Mind Destruction

The latest incarnation of a theme deck revolving around the destruction of the mind. As such, it's mostly milling, with some discarding included as well. Creatures are all horrors with either milling abilities or the ability to get stronger off of mills and discards. The side deck is mostly for dealing with creatures in opposing decks that have a lot of them.

Goblin Frenzy! (Standard)

As the name implies, this is the Standard format version of my Goblin Frenzy deck. The idea is the same - get as many bodies out there as possible and overwhelm my opponent. Goblinslide is there to add some extra spawning potential to Hordeling Outburst, and Howl of the Horde could add some serious punch to Hordeling Outburst.

Goblin Frenzy! (Modern)

Basically a Modern version of my EDH Goblin Frenzy deck. The idea is simply to get as many bodies out on the battlefield as possible as quickly as possible, with the intention of overwhelming the opponent. The low cost of the goblin units should help with that. Once they're out there, the buff units (like the chieftain and wardriver) will make them even deadlier.

Goblin Frenzy! (EDH)

This is an all-goblin EDH deck designed to swarm the opposition. There's some buffs in there to make the individual goblins more powerful and increase their effectiveness - even a +1/+0 buff, when applied to tons of individual goblins, could be deadly. Krenko as the commander just lets me spawn even more.

Mother Nature's A Real Bitch

The idea here is creature attack - a decent number of creatures put out quickly and some buffs to make them better. I've also got some extra mana generation options to power those buffs (Elvish Mystic and Golden Hind). The side deck is mostly to deal with situational stuff like flyers (Plummet) and artifact and enchantment-heavy opponents.

Keep in mind I'm a beginner at this game.
