Deck Reviews / [EDH / Commander] Boros Mean Stuff

Boros Bad Stuff

So today I decided to build a Boros EDH deck just to see what I would do with the colors. The basic idea is to screw over opponents and make them want to avoid attacking me.

While I don't own this deck in real life, I tried to keep it reasonably priced on the chance I end up making it, so things like original dual lands, fast mana enablers, and other powerful but expensive cards weren't included.

In addition, I did not spend a lot of time building this deck (on and off over two hours) using cards I'm not as familiar with (Mainly play B and U) and haven't spent time looking at possible hands and statistics and making sure its diverse enough or too thinly spread. So I know things are going to be sloppy here.

I would appreciate any suggestions anyone may have.

Deck Reviews / [Modern] BW Humans

With the introduction of Thalia's Lieutenant, Humans are able to get a permanent boost, which greatly helps this deck out.

Our one drop of choice is Champion of the Parish. With nearly every creature in this deck being a Human, the Champion is our ideal turn one play and will grow fast. We also have the already mentioned Thalia's Lieutenant, which would give the Champion two counters, as long as every other Human on our side of the field one counter. Not only that, it will also get counters when Humans enter.

The other one drop creature is Bloodsoaked Champion. The card gives some nice early game pressure, and is fairly easy to bring back should it die. It can be replaced if needed.

Zulaport Cutthroat (the replacement to Blood Artist, being a Human and all) helps keep us alive just a bit longer while slowly hurting an opponent. Xathrid Necromancer is there to further capitalize on our creatures dying, giving us some nice 2/2 Zombie bodies, which will also trigger the Cutthroat upon death. The other card mixing with these two is Athreos, God of Passage. As we gain life and a Zombie friend, an opponent is given the option to lose three life or we get the card back in our hand. Given the low cost of creatures and enter the battlefield effects, playing them again would be nice. On the flip side, three damage to the face is nice as well. I find the card to be good enough to be in the deck.

Dark Confident, in addition to being a Human, is an amazing card that gives us fuel for a small cost of life.

Æther Vial works great in creature heavy decks, and this is no exception. Being able to simply play cards without paying the mana is amazing. For this deck, I would keep it at 2 charge counters.

The only other nonland card I consider a must have in this deck is Gather the Townsfolk. Playing it on turn two would help Champion of the Parish grow by quite a bit. It's a simple card in function, but really helps out. Of course, it can be replaced if need be.

I consider the rest of the spells in the deck, as well as the sideboard, to be dependent on the type of threats the individual player comes up against. They can be switched as need be. In the same way, land count is up to personal preference.

I really enjoy the deck. Last year I had the basic idea of the deck, but it felt like it was missing something. Now, I feel it is much more dangerous. I would love to hear suggestions on how to make it better!

List your favorite combos. This could be a simple two card combo, or a long five card combo. Whatever ones you like.

Mindlock Orb and Path to Exile.

Nettling Imp and Royal Assassin.

Channel and Fireball.

Athreos, God of Passage and Xathrid Necromancer.

Exquisite Blood and Sanguine Bond.

These are just my favorite interactions.

Basic question. What color is your favorite to play? Why?

The WB 60 Presents

A deck built around Life gain and Life loss, rounded out to help fight threats that typically may stop such decks.

I want to find a way to add Sanguine Bond in with my Exquisite Blood for the infinite life gain and life loss combo. The other card I want to add is Kokusho, the Evening Star. In single player is can do some decent damage, and in multiplier it can devastate. These cards will go into the side board for when they will be needed.

This deck is made up of cards I own, so please feel free to suggest any other ideas that can help this deck out.

I want to add Exquisite Blood and Sanguine Bond for the infinite life gain and life loss combo. In addition, Temporal Extortion is an easy way to either make an opponent lose a good about of life or to get myself a big lead. The final card I want to add is Kokusho, the Evening Star. In single player is can do some decent damage, and in multiplier it can devastate. These cards will go into the side board for when they will be needed.

General Magic / Favorite Planeswalker?
« on: November 30, 2014, 06:02:05 am »
So what is everyone's favorite Planeswalkers? This can be for story reasons, gameplay reasons, or any other reason.

I like Sorin as a character. Despite being a Black walker, he does things that are for the betterment of society. He also hates that he has to feed on blood, which I think is an excellent trait.

Also, while only recently introduced, I really like Nahiri.

So, what about everyone else?

So far, I want to switch Serra's Blessing for Brave the Sands, and I want to add Exquisite Blood and Sanguine Bond.
