I hope there will be good legends (and other cards) for mono white commander decks. Mark Rosewater said that Odric and Thalia are going to be in the set (https://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/making-magic/odds-ends-innistrad-midnight-hunt-part-1-2021-09-27), so I hope they are nice! And some good angels too. And although I really like tribal decks, I never have build a werewolf or vampire deck (i tend to build more Blue, White and Green decks), so I think so general buffs for tribal decks and +1/+1 counter strategies would be fine, like they did with the coven mechanic.

I listen to the EDHRECast since they started. It's a fun and informative podcast, many times about trends that can be seen on the EDHREC site. I also listen to CMDRCentral, three friends that talk about commander, Dana is also in the EDHRECast.

On youtube I watch Game Knights, I hate your deck and Tolarian Community College. I discoverd the I hate your deck I show when the Professor was one of their guests. IHYD is one of the more amusing Commander shows I know off. I don't like MTGGoldfish as much, althougt I like the articles of Tomer on their site. And I like the episodes of Extra Turns more than the Game Knights episodes of late, those are too produced with all the talking about what happened and who did what. That's also why I have stopped listening to the Command Zone podcast, too much talk about theirselves and their sponsor deals in the show is what has put me off.

I definitely going to check MTGMuddstah again, but I think I have watched them and didn't like it very much.

Nice to see another Kethis elf deck. You go more into the token and lifegain stategy as i do in my elf Kethis deck.

Because you have quite a few mana elfs already, maybe you change Rift Sower with Nadier's Nightblade as tokens tend to die a lot 😉.

And one of my favorite elf cards is Mercy Killing, you can play it to profit from the death of a creatures that is going to die or is supposed to go te exile and profit from it. You can even use it as true removal spell when needed.

Looks like a fun deck. A was thinking of making a token/lifegain deck with Trelassara, moon dancer. But I think Shanna is a fine commander for such a deck as well.

I miss a few cards for gaining life. I saw only three or four of those cards. I'm missing the 'soul sisters'. Soul warden, soul's attendent, essence warden, daxos, blessed by the sun for lots of lifegain triggers, that way your payoffs like Heliod and ajani's chosen and such will trigger much more frequent. If you are leaving the lifegain plan entirely that makes sense with your commander. In that case Maja, bretaguard protector could be a fine addition, it's an anthem and tokenmaker on one card.

General Magic / Re: MTG Showcase 2021 to announce 2022 set schedule

I am also a little tired of constant stream of releases, special products, 6 different versions of a card and such. Friends I have been playing with for years and that did buy quite a lot and was collecting sets have stopped doing that.

We still like the game a lot, but not the effort to keep up! There is to much stuff to know everything that has been released.  And it's becoming too expensive as well, even if you just buy a few cards from every set like I used to do. For now it's buying a box of standard set once in a while to draft with, but that could stop. We all have cards enough to keep building (commander) decks for years and have something new once in a while. And if you get a commander deck once a year for Christmas or something there are even new cards or decks to play against each other.

Commander Discussion / Re: Suggestions for my next commander?
« on: August 17, 2021, 01:28:50 pm »
As I looked through your decks (that are on your 'frontpage' when visiting your profile) I noticed you play less Red and Blue in your commander decks. Since you have an monored Purphoros deck already and all your other decks are multicolored you could look at building a monoblue deck. I was inspired by an article on EDHREC for an all creature monoblue Toothy commander deck. It has a lot of clones to kill your commander and draw lots of cards and drawing again when playing Toothy from the commandzone again.

Or you could give yourselve another challenge like building an all-creature or all enchantment or all spells deck (in monocolor ;)).

A few other ideas:

Edit: Depala is indeed nice too. With all the (seven) dwarves in recent sets it can be a very strong deck. Especially with a hidden commander like Magda, brazen outlaw to ramp you and search for your best vehicles.

General Magic / Re: What is your favorite tribe in Magic?
« on: August 15, 2021, 08:22:19 am »
I voted Elves, but I like all kinds of tribal (commander) decks. But my other favorites are merfolk and elementals! Besides that I have an knights, wizards and a rogue deck.

My love for elves and other tribes started with Lorwyn block. That was the first time I bought some sets of commons and uncommons to make tribal decks with. And the best at that time were elves and merfolk. I'm still waiting for an interesting (bant) commander for the archer tribe. One of the most fun decks I played when we didn't play commander was an archer deck with Greatbow Doyen at the centre and cards as merrow levitator to give my opponents creatures flying and then shoot them with Scattershot Archer or Jagged-Scar Archers. And with all the white archers (like Brigid, hero of Kinsbaile) there must be a commander for it.

Thanks for your primer!

I have an Inalla deck, but with your explanation on your card choices I can certainly upgrade / alter it to be more effective without buying (a lot) of (expensive) cards as I have quite a lot of wizards that I can evaluate better with your tips!

General Magic / Re: most cost effective way to build your collection
« on: July 07, 2021, 11:58:17 am »
Like most people before me, I would give the advice to start with preconstructed decks. Until recently WOTC delivered four or five commander decks a year, but nowadays each standard legal set comes with two commander decks with it. Those decks don't have as much new cards in them as the mentioned 'bigger commander sets' but they are cheaper and have enough of important staples like command tower, sol ring, or arcane signet in them. And these decks play nice against each other.

If you are planning on building decks yourselfs, investing in mana producers as lands and manarocks is the best start. As said there are quite useful ones in the precons, but you could buy a quite a few other useful lands as well. I like lands like reliquary tower, rogue's passage because they have an useful ability and are cheap as well. And for other information on lands you can check this topic on deckstats as well: https://deckstats.net/forum/index.php/topic,55692.msg163560.html#msg163560.

If you're in to it, there are podcast and youtube channels focused on (budget) commander, like Commander's Quarters. The aforementioned site EDHREC.com has ways to select the cheapest builds of each commander and have article series on budget building.

Me and a couple of friends have started to build decks with only commons and uncommons now there are so many legendary creatures printed at uncommon. So there are quite a lot of ways to get started with building, collecting and playing, depending on how much time and money you are willing to spend.

Deck Comments / Re: Boros Warriors - Comments

Nice to see another Boros Warrior deck. I play my deck since before Strixhaven, see: https://deckstats.net/decks/104951/2083923-equiped-warriors/en. It started as a deck with only a few rares. And it works quite well. You can see the differences between our decks yourselves. But in your case, because you run quite a few equipments I would definitely run resolute strike. Switching or attaching equipment during combat is quite the battletrick that is deciding win or lose. Especially with a kor blademaster on the battlefield it's often game over (for me or my opponent ;) ). I play mostly Best of One, so maybe that's why it's working, but I think resolute strike is a must have in an equipment focused warrior deck.

Deckstats Feedback / Add 'wants' and 'Haves' to collection manager
« on: May 24, 2021, 10:09:28 am »
I would like to have the possibility to add wanted cards to my collection. The same goes for cards I want to trade off or sell. That my friends know what I have to trade, and maybe there can be trades on the site as well. And I to buy efficiently on Cardmarket as well. Adding cards to my collection is a lot easier on this site than it is on Cardmarket.

I'd like to hear if more people here would like such a function.

Commander Discussion / Re: Commander Varient
« on: May 24, 2021, 10:02:22 am »
Thanks a lot, there are quite a few cards I already own. Especially the outlast ones could be a great addition. And also the Alhara & Slurrk, they could be fun too. I hadn't thought of them, they are in my Commander Legends Cube for now.

I have played the deck as it was (couldn't make the suggested alterations in time). But the deck did what it was supposed to do. After a slow start I could cast a few of the big beaters in the form of my eldrazi for cheap. Unfortunately I did lose to Hallar, the firefletcher. I should have removed keeper of skybreak that was untapping my opponents priest of titania or the priest itself, but I was too confident I could kill him with my eldrazi's next turn. I was wrong! Hallar kills fast when you can cast a few (big) kicked spells. The Aurami deck didn't perform as well as the other times I played against it, It did suffer from the exile from one of my Eldrazi's and the continous damage of Hallar.

Next I'm going to build Abomination of Llanowar, that could be done on a budget as well I think. The other suggestions made by fluffyp look like fun to, I want a Zada deck for years, maybe I should try that deck first. Choices in what to build are hard, I cannot build it all.....

Looks like a fun deck to play.

But as far as I see it you have a deck with a high CMC. Nylea, keen-eyed, could help you 'ramp' because you play so many creatures. And to get some damage through you could als consider Rhonas's monument, it makes green creatures cheaper to cast and gives trample and a buff to a creature whenever you cast a creature. Both are legendary as well.

And for carddraw i would suggest garruk's uprising, it gives all you creatures trample too.

Noticed you had a lot of ways to put out counters in that, but not a lot of ways to benefit from it. Also had a few cards that were off theme, at least as far as I could tell, so I tried changing things up a bit to add on more benefits. In a couple cases, fight cards specifically, I kept that but swapped them out for ones that also deal in +1/+1 counters. If it turns out the deck needs work after your testing, you could consider some things like this.
