Commander Discussion / Re: Commander Rule Change w/ M21 Announced
« on: June 12, 2020, 08:29:55 am »
What about Godsend with the new rule? The commander would  get exiled, so future casts should be prevented.
I don’t think so:

Quote
607.2a If an object has an activated or triggered ability printed on it that instructs a player to exile one or more cards and an ability printed on it that refers either to “the exiled cards” or to cards “exiled with [this object],” these abilities are linked. The second ability refers only to cards in the exile zone that were put there as a result of an instruction to exile them in the first ability.
Since the commander no longer is in the command exile zone, the linked ability has no exiled card to refer to...

Edit: Just reread my post and corrected a glaring mistake (even though I assume it was easy enough to understand anyway)

My understanding is that the Commander goes to the graveyard or exile first, THEN you may choose to move it from there to the Command Zone.  With the change in effect, if you sacrifice your Commander with It That Betrays in an opponents' control on the battlefield, the owner of It That Betrays will get control of your Commander without you being able to put your Commander safely into the Command Zone (state based effect).  Another example would be playing Necromantic Selection and being able to pick getting control of an opponent's Commander without them being able to save it by putting it to the Command Zone...
While Necromantic Selection would work and be able to steal a commander, It that Betrays wouldn’t. ItB is a triggered ability and would therefore appear on/be resolved from the stack after state based actions have already moved the commander to its Command Zone. And since there already is a ruling in Oracle that specifically say ItB doesn’t work if the card has already moved out of the GY...

Commander Discussion / Re: A New Contest

Couldn’t a “max budget X” contest simply use any one of the site’s built-in value card value APIs? Like “max 50$ per CardKingdom” or something like that?

Brawl isn’t quite Commander, though. It’s meant to be played 1v1 and has a far less varied cards source thus way more limited answers to problems like Sorcerous Spyglass or Dranith Magistrate.

In Commander, the question isn’t really whether Dranith Magistrate can lock commanders out, but rather how long can it manage to?

General Magic / Re: What is your favorite piece of MTG art?

It’s hard to chose just one, but I’m tempted to say Answered Prayers.

I have a definite preference for Seb Mckinnon’s art, with Rebecca Guay and Nils Hamm close favorites too. I’m slowly building up a collection of Seb foils (except for the rare cards that have never been released in foil, like the upcoming Misty Rainforest or the Ugin’s Fate alternate Grim Haruspex... Hopefully one day I’ll manage to get the lot signed (planned on doing so in March at a local con he was attending, but My girlfriend unfortunately was sick so I took care of her instead of attending)

I decided to build two new decks, one ped by Gavi (just need the precon and to manage to source a Decree of Silence) and a second one using the Mardu preecon which I’m still juggling with.
I’ve also removed Vaevictis, the Dire as the commander of my Primal Surge deck and put Illuna, Apex of Wishes in his stead. Haven’t been able to test the new deck yet, but it sure looks fun already.

Illuna, Apex of Primal Surge

Made adjustments to the manabase, which I had forgotten to address when I changed the deck from Vaevictis/Jund to Illuna/Temur... Also removed one card I was still proxiing (unfortunately, can't find a non-foil copy locally) and replaced it with another utility C20 card...

Added/removed cards:
-1 Fauna Shaman
+1 Tidal Barracuda

+1 Grove of the Burnwillows
+1 Ketria Triome
+1 Misty Rainforest
+1 Rootbound Crag
+1 Scalding Tarn
+1 Steam Vents
+1 Stomping Ground
-2 Forest

Commander Deck Reviews / Illuna, Apex of Primal Surge

I wanted to hive my Vaevictis Primal asurge deck a new spin and thus made a version that’s headed by Illuna. Anything you guys think I might be better off changing in there?

I know the landbase is pretty barren, but I tend to somewhat rely on Blood Moon/Magus of the Moon as a control piece to slow opponents down, so prefer to concentrate on basics... Note that I also have an Anundance on the way that should help with the land balance eventually...

Unless your playgroup allows you to ignore the colour identity rule, you wouldn’t be allowed to put any non-green cards in the deck because of your choice of commander

400.7. An object that moves from one zone to another becomes a new object with no memory of, or relation to, its previous existence.

By the time the permanent returns to your graveyard, it is no longer considered to be the same spell and so cannot be recast again using Lurrus of the Dream-Den ‘s ability.

Is there any way to add Tokens to lists (either decks or ‘Card list’ types)? They can be added to our Collection so the site clearly can handle them, but I’ve been unable to add them to any list unfortunately
(I just want to add the relevant tokens to my Seb McKinnon art list...)

@BanjoCat

Not sure why you want to share your deck, since it's not even a Commander/EDH deck. Plus you made a mistake in the name, since your deck is actually called "Master Skywalker, there are..."

Link to the deck here for the sake of convenience...

About Deckstats / Re: Improved Card Prices
« on: April 23, 2020, 12:11:18 am »
In addition, we now also have printing-specific Card Kingdom prices available for most cards. This means that if a card was printed twice in the same set (eg. as a normal card and as a promo) they will now both show the correct price.
I assume this doesn't take into consideration the Foil flag, does it? Or rather, it doesn't seem to as far as I can tell

A Lurrus deck with a vampire theme. I would be happy to play this against my playgroup and probably could if I found one or two bits.
You seem to have made the same mistake most people do at first with Lurrus of the Dream-Den, unless that really was intentional: only your permanents are limited to CMC 2 or less, instants and sorceries can be more expensive if you need them to...

I'm not used to looking for infinite mana combos, so not sure where to go since I have to take Deadeye Navigator out....

Revision 2

Added/removed cards:
-1 Deadeye Navigator
+1 Mistmeadow Witch
