It sort of depends on the format, but consider Jin-Gitaxis, Core Augur, or non-creature spells like Reliquary Tower or Spell Book so you can hold on to those cards, and make better use of Sturmgeist and Psychosis Crawler.

Once an ability has triggered, it doesn't matter what happens to the source (unless the ability specifically says otherwise.)  So you will get to destroy an attacking creature, and return to library will trigger, but only resolve if the Vengeful Pharaoh is still in the GY.

Now of course, if your opponent remembered it was there, they would exile the pharaoh during the declare blockers step after you declared no blockers, so that they could save an attacking creature.  But after the ability triggers, moving the pharaoh won't cancel it.

Looks like you've got it, but take a look at Oracle of Mul Daya if you're playing eternal or casual, it does let you play an additional land (from your hand, or library.)

Not quite BigDog, the cards still have the same color, only permanents (cards already played and on the battlefield) are affected by the color removal.

Note that some weird cards (especially old ones) aren't actually useful, even though they technically 'do' something, though I do share your fascination.

Well Laid Plans won't work, the creatures are colorless, they have no colors to share. This is the reason that invoke prejudice _does_ work.

Also, consider that you still need to pay the appropriate color to cast the spell, it's just colorless once it's on the battlefield. So Chaos Moon won't give anything +1 or -1, it could double the amount your mountains make, but when it turns your mountains to produce colorless mana, you won't be able to cast Goblin Welder anyway.  (PS, am I missing something? It looks to me like Goblin Welder exchanges artifacts, removes 1 and adds 1, keeping the count even or odd, not changing it.)

When you're looking at a weird card like this, you're probably best off starting by looking for creatures that have a drawback having to do with what the card changes.  Are there any creatures that care about sharing colors?  Do any of those 'break' when it can't ever share a color?

Fear and Intimidate get much better, since now only artifact creatures can block them.  Maybe this could be used as sideboard tech in an intimidate deck vs same color matchups.

As soon as it resolves. Notably, your opponent can respond to the spell before his creatures lose flying (and yours gain it.)
If creatures entering the battlefield trigger effects, the flying thing is in already on when those effects are resolving.

Have you considered dual-booting windows?

There's Cockatrice, which is pretty good, don't know if it runs on Mac though.

Honestly, your best bet is to find a way to play MTGO, it's really worth it.

Duel of the Planeswalkers is available on iPad, PS3 and Xbox too, but you won't get very much challenge playing that online.

Edit to add: I hear that many people play MTGO on a Mac, so you should be able to get it to work.  eg. Marshall Sutcliff of one of the best Magic Podcasts, Limited Resources plays on a Mac.  I'm not saying it's easy to setup, but it must be stable enough.

General Magic / Re: please help !! Rule argument about hexproof
« on: May 12, 2014, 07:53:29 pm »
So you know, it's 702.11c

Quote from: MTG CR
702.11c "Hexproof" on a player means "You can't be the target of spells or abilities your opponents control."

And perhaps more importantly, 114.9a

Quote from: MTG CR
114.9. Spells and abilities can affect objects and players they don't target. In general, those objects and players aren't chosen until the spell or ability resolves. See rule 608, "Resolving Spells and Abilities."
114.9a Just because an object or player is being affected by a spell or ability doesn't make that object or player a target of that spell or ability. Unless that object or player is identified by the word "target" in the text of that spell or ability, or the rule for that keyword ability, it's not a target.
114.9b In particular, the word "you" in an object's text doesn't indicate a target.

Sweet, thanks!
