I will be disappointed if they do not bring back trap cards, such as Archive Trap.  Anyone who has ever played D&D knows that you have to be on the lookout for traps!  And on a similar tangent, I look to see at least one Flash based rogue that "traps" when a trap is activated to cancel the effect.

I agree on Level Up needing to come back, full on flavorful.

In terms of creatures, they had better have some killer dragons.  No it's, ands, or buts about it.  Dragons must shine.  But I would also like to see Mindflayers focused on Mill strategies.  Maybe they grow when a library is milled (particularly your own), or maybe they "eat" (ie, exile) milled cards.  Maybe they can take over creatures with toughness lower than the number of cards milled at the end of the turn.  So many options...

Lore wise, I would like to see Sorin arrive, perhaps introducing Sigarda as a newly awakened Planeswalker, only to be chased by Nahiri hiring heroes to try to kill him (he would be a vampire in a D&D world).  Maybe see Vraska, since we aren't really sure where she went to...

I am thinking a Zur the Enchanter deck, to ensure I can get out the combo pieces.  Seems like it could seriously abuse sac outlets and Chronozoa...

General Magic / Solemnity and Vanishing
« on: December 27, 2020, 11:15:29 pm »
So I know with Fading, Solemnity just causes permanents to just fizzle on upkeep, but Vanishing has me thinking: if there were never any counters to take off in the first place, does that mean I can just keep the permanent with vanishing since I would never really be taking off the last counter? (For instance, Solemnity on the field and I cast Chronozoa)

I like unusual decks, so I will go with Sigarda, Heron's Grace.  With Slippery Bogbonder and Bastion Protector in the mix, and a deck full of humans, maybe an interesting build around atm.  And leaves open a possible Shalai, Voice of Plenty.

Nightstalkers

The Mana base seems off, but not sure the best way to repair it.  The general idea is to strengthen unblockable creatures to take out opponents quickly.

This is kind of what I was thinking for them to release as an Aetherborn Commander.  I designed the card in mtgcardsmith (the image is by Jaden Lingerfelt, not my design, but I am a terrible artist).  The card text got cut off a bit, but is as follows :

Lifelink, Deathtouch, Fabricate 3
Sacrifice an artifact: Target Aetherborn gains flying until end of turn.
Whenever an artifact or creature is sacrificed, put a +1/+1 counter on each Aetherborn creature you control.
Whenever an Aetherborn creature you control dies, lose 1 life and draw a card.—

Actually, regarding Centaurs, I would think, based on speed and number of attack enabled appendages, a Centaur Lord that granted all of your Centaurs Doublestrike and removed Doublestrike from non-Centaur creatures would be appropriate...

I am guessing one ability to another is either first strike to double strike (been done before) or shroud into hexproof.

One for which a lot of demand exists is a better Commander for Werewolf than Ulrich of the Krallenhorde.  Perhaps something like Immerwolf, boosting wolves and werewolves while stabilizing werewolves in their stronger form.

Pretty much what I said :)

What I would like to see, personally, is an Aetherborn Tribal theme.  It is a unique race, with an interesting culture.  I could definitely see it being a mono black deck with either an artifact subtheme or a +1/+1 counters subtheme...

Trying to design a party themed deck around Linvala, Shield of Seagate.  Right now, still need to cut some cards to get to the required 60 cards, but trying to determine which ones to choose...

Chulane Landfall

Utilize various combos to try to create infinite landfall loops. For instance, Ruin Ghost, Lotus Cobra and Tideforce Elemental.  Or Retreat To Coralhelm, Murasa Rootgrazer and Tideforce Elemental with an Island.
