Chandra: The Deck

A deck designed to be as Chandra as possible. Filled to the brim with cards named after Chandra, featuring Chandra in their art, and talking about or quoting Chandra in their flavour text.

Feedback is welcome, but please do keep the theme in mind.

Japan is famous for weird porn, some of which involves tentacles and little girls.

That's the joke.

You inspired me to try a casual take on this concept. If you're interested in seeing it, it's here: https://deckstats.net/decks/62795/476941-budget-surge?lng=en

Budget Surge

A while ago, I saw Jace27's Budget Surge deck (https://deckstats.net/decks/59390/431912-budget-surge/en). And it seemed to me that the deck was weakened terribly by being in Standard.  So I decided to try making a casual version.

This is that.

Feedback would be appreciated.

The deck has potential, but you should really play 4 of your key cards. I suggest dropping the Eyes of Ugin and the Windswept Heaths to fill out your playsets of Mishra's Workshop and Bazaar of Baghdad.

Of course, a deck like this one can afford to play more than 60 cards. Might be a good idea to take advantage of that freedom.

Spiritcraft

A green deck designed to make use of the spiritcraft mechanic from Kamigawa.

Feedback is welcome, as always.

Looks like a big improvement.

Coal Stoker isn't as bad as Akki Rockspeaker. Given that your win condition seems to be "attack with random red dudes", a 3/3 attacker is probably worthwhile. So I'd keep it.

If you're looking to cut a marginal creature, my choice would be Wild Cantor.

Why are you playing Graven Cairns in a deck with no black cards?

Anyway, Akki Rockspeaker is a bad card. Don't play it.

I don't think you have enough creatures to justify Battle Hymn. Some other ritual, or Simian Spirit Guide, would probably be better.

Needle Drop and Gorilla War Cry seem random and I'm not sure what they're doing here.

Given your apparent desire to play out your hand very fast, I think more cheap spells are in order. It's hard to go wrong with Lightning Bolt.

4 leylines seems like a bit much.

You might be able to arrange some big multi-spell turns, so if I were you I'd look into storm and Storm Entity.

Madness cards are also worth a look, given how often you'll pitch your hand with a wheel of fortune effect. There are some good ones in Shadows Over Innistrad.

Green/Black Constellation

Title says it all, really. A green/black deck made to use the constellation mechanic.

Feedback would be appreciated. I'm not so sure about the value of Oakheart Dryads or Pharika, and would take them out if I had any good ideas for what to replace them with.

63 cards is too many. You should cut some cards.

Since you're only playing 21 lands, making the cuts at the upper end of your mana curve might be a good idea.

But yeah, this deck needs a clearer plan.

That does help.

I dunno about Fume Spitter, though. If I'm chump blocking I'm probably losing anyway. And it can't attack usefully in an infect deck.

Looking at your deck, I'm thinking that maybe I should give Grim Affliction a try. The proliferation could be useful.

On the other hand, 3-mana removal isn't helping with the speed issue. Maybe Ulcerate or Virulent Wound would be a better bet.

Or maybe I should be more proactive. I only have one 1-drop, so maybe I should use that first turn to hit my opponent's hand with Ostracize or Duress or something.

And then there's Vector Asp, which is kinda jank, but also a 1-mana infect creature.

Thoughts?

Neat.

68 cards is too many, though. And 32 lands is also probably too many. Dropping 8 lands might be a good idea.

Slip Through Space also strikes me as dubious; it just doesn't do much for you. I think you'd have better luck with more copies of Torpor Orb.

Against the Odds made a similar deck a while back; I suspect you've seen it, but in case you haven't.

I also toyed with a similar idea myself, though I never built it. Here's the deck list I had in mind, maybe you'll find it useful.

4 Torpor Orb
4 Hushwing Gryff
4 Hunted Horror
4 Treacherous Pit-Dweller
2 Necrogen Scudder
3 Dust Elemental
3 Demonlord of Ashmouth
1 Inverter of Truth
3 Hunted Lammasu
3 Castigate
4 Mortify
4 Temple of Silence
4 Scoured Barrens
10 Swamp
7 Plains

Cool idea.

Playing March of the Machines alongside artifact lands seems dangerous, though. And I think you'd find a sac outlet useful; even if you want your Spine of Ish Sah dead, you might not be able to do it by animating it and using it in combat. Not sure what the best choice of sac outlet is...maybe Etherium Astrolabe?

Not sure what the blue cards are doing in here. Training Grounds only benefits one creature in the deck, and while Mana Leak is a fine card it doesn't seem worth splashing a colour for. Especially not in a deck that wants to cast Phyrexian Obliterator and Geralf's Messenger.
