https://deckstats.net/decks/154223/1643710-the-scarab-god-thanks-for-the-

The idea of this deck is to use milling to my advantage. Taking their creatures and using them against them, and reusing mine.

The deck still needs some work. i have some ideas for tutors ( Tribute Mage, Mesmeric Orb, Corpse Connoisseur) thanks to Morganator 2.0.

I feel like the deck needs more mana draw to better take advantage of the scarab god.
id really like to know how else i can get more zombies out faster, as this deck doesnt really use the combat phase much.
combat phase is either going to be used to take advantage of an opponent who cant block, get zombies out, or to mill.

My library (and knowledge of the MTG library as a whole) is limited right now, ive only been playing for 2ish months.
both luckily and unluckily, COVID has done the opposite for me as the rest of the MTG community.. currently deployed and we cant hit ports.. so a good 15-20 of the crew here took to playing MTG to pass time.

needs some more ramp

any suggestions for what to add?
im pretty new to magic, i dont have a good grasp on the library.

very nice! thank you both!

its quite the fun brawl deck.

Is now a good time or a bad time to mention that neither The Scarab God nor Consuming Aberration are legal in Brawl?

luckily my play group enjoys making non-legal decks. currently deployed.

the real question is, are they still legal in commander? because when i get home, thats what ill be playing.

another question, i found your primer on the scarab god.
This might be a silly question, but im rather new (ive only been playing magic for... three months)
You say in your primer that The Scarab God's third ability works as a way to get around commander tax,
How does this work? I was under the impression that no matter what, every subsequent time you cast your commander from the
command zone it costs two more. and any time your commander would go anywhere from the battlefield (exiled, returned to hand, graveyard), it goes back to the command zone instead.  so wouldnt that mean you still have to pay the tax? or was it wrong and he can actually return to your hand?

Unfortunately most of the websites that list rules are blocked on the network im on.

also, i cant look at any of the banned card listings.. big sad

thank you both very much for the reply!
Fortunately, for my scarab god deck, i rarely actually attack. i typically will just use Consuming Aberration for his milling effect and then cast the opponents creatures from their graves, and then let his upkeep effect kill the opponent.

its quite the fun brawl deck.

If i use The Scarab God's ability to create a token of Consuming Aberration,
does Consuming Aberration still get the effect of "this creatures attack and defense is equal to the number of cards in opponents graveyards?

from what i can tell, when i bring him back as a token from the grave, he is a 4/4 zombie that still has all of his abilities. So because of this.. his attack/defense are still equal to the opponents graveyard. please tell me if im wrong

A quick question,

Does the effect from Yarok, the Desecrated work on Consuming Aberration? So my opponents would have to do that twice?

https://deckstats.net/decks/154223/1639745-milling-zombies-

So my booster boxes came in today. with the help of a stupidly lucky box (i got the Scarab Lord, and the fancy Lord of Extinction in the same card pack), and a very nice friend coming in clutch to help me fill out my deck with some older cards, this is what i was able to make.

ive only played two games with the deck, and i cant do much about flying... other than that it seems pretty okay. i love milling.. something about seeing my friends faces when they discard their favorite cards just to boost the damage of my cards... it makes me happy.

The suggestions definitely help, sage's  row denizen definitely can go as hes really not doing much here.
I like the idea of risen reef and a friend of my actually pulled it from the booster box, so i might be able to get it for a trade.
Simic Ascendancy would be pretty silly, as one of my bump options for thassa is Pollenbright Druid.. might have to buy a single of him.

im surprised you dont like Vraska, Swarm's Eminence though. Shes creates some good pressure with my deathtouch creatures.
If players dont want my deathtouch creatures to ramp up, they have to let their guys die.
If they eat the damage to save their creatures, i get a +1/+1 counter, then i use pollenbright druid to add two more!

Making a deck around amass was an idea i had, but it seems most of the cards i have to have amass are red... which is sad.

Recently started playing magic, looking for help. this is my first brawler deck.
I feel like the deck doesnt have enough heavy hitting cards and relies on ramp from proliferate and amass.
I need to get an Agent of Treachery, Tri-lands, and more double lands. (unfortunately im currently deployed and it will take at least a month to get any new cards...)
