General Magic / Re: ? on counters
« on: March 16, 2014, 09:37:00 pm »
You are wrong, so I'll correct you  ;)

Those are both replacement effects, that happen once each, you get to choose which applies first.

So you get a +1/+1 counter on a creature, and decide that Primal Vigor happens first.  Primal Vigor changes that to 2 counters.  Then Corpsejack Menace happens, and changes it to 4.  That's it.

See rule 613.5:
Quote from: CR
613.5. A replacement effect doesn’t invoke itself repeatedly and gets only one opportunity for each event.

Example: A player controls two permanents, each with an ability that reads “If a creature you control would deal damage to a creature or player, it deals double that damage to that creature or player instead.” A creature that normally deals 2 damage will deal 8 damage—not just 4, and not an infinite amount.

Incorrect Venser.  Sorry.

They are put on the stack at the same time, but the abilities resolve separately.  Your opponent gets to chose in what order they're put on the stack (and thus resolve.)  Therefore, one of them resolves first, puts a second counter on, and doesn't crack, since there are only 2 counters (and an ordeal trigger on the stack.) Then the other resolves, the creature gets a third counter, and the ordeal cracks; he gains 10 or deals 3, depending on which it is.

The long of the short is that he only gets one ordeal to pop, but get's to choose which.

So many good ones, poetic, insightful, cavalier... but for now, blunt:

Reparations

General Magic / Re: Triad of Fates
« on: March 05, 2014, 09:53:43 pm »
You're right, as long as it has a fate counter, the ability will work on itself.  Oblivion Stone or another Triad of Fates could set that up.

The second (or third) abilities would explicitly say they couldn't target itself if that was the case, but they work no matter how the fate counter got there.

Thanks! I have Halimar depths for my ETB tapped land; I can't pitch to the bottom, but it does go 3 deep.  I'd probably play the temple over Halimar Depths if it scryed for 2, but that would probably be a little too OP.  Hmmm, I could use the fetch lands to try to combo with Halimar to shuffle cards off the top though.  I might try that, thanks for the idea :p!

For color fixing, since this isn't Standard, I can use the older lands too. I'm running Watery Grave, Drowned Catacombs for mana fixing, and of course secluded glen in the faeries deck since all those lands can come into play untapped and speed up the deck a lot in comparison.

Ya, love the flavor of the Faerie Queen, but it's probably a bit spendy mana wise.

I think I'll narrow down the equipment to the cheaper one's too, thanks for the suggestion.

Ya, I'm not really sure where that card fits.  If anywhere, I think in a faeries deck.  2 cards is a pretty nice consolation, especially when you're trying to win by attrition with your effective cheap fliers.

I'd prefer just 4 swords in the equipment slots, but I don't have the $100 to drop on them at the moment.  Maybe just the 2 Loxodon Warhammers, and 2 more Psionic Blasts?

What about the creatures?

NOOOO!!!  I thought Skullclamp was only banned in Modern.  I need to play other formats more often.

My FNM is having a Tribal Wars battle.  We need to have 30! cards with the same type (I think it's usually only 20) so I'm having a bit of trouble here.  This is what I've come up with so far, with the rest of my Fae cards listed in the sideboard. It's legacy legality, so I'm playing my Skullclamp and Sol Rings.

Current 30 Tribal Faeries

Please help me out!

General Magic / Re: Emblems
« on: February 27, 2014, 06:22:28 pm »
You don't.

The game has no way to get rid of an emblem, and Wizard's plans to keep it that way, that's why Emblems were created in the first place, way to permanently affect the rest of the game.  If they ever create a way to remove them, I imagine it would be a planeswalker's ultimate ability (the same way they're created.)

Deckstats Feedback / Re: Sort by Mana Cost without losing Sort Headings
« on: February 26, 2014, 06:34:43 pm »
You are exactly correct.  That way I could glance at the mana curve of my creatures, separate from my spells, etc.

I can see the usefulness of sorting the whole deck by mana cost too, so I'm not sure if/how you could keep that functionality too (i.e., ways to do either.)  Maybe a sort by mana cost button in the section header?
