I thinkyou lack of creature with flying. Using Wonder is a cheap way to easily give fly to your merfolks.

Also Clip Wings, Plummet or Pierce the skies Will allow you to handle large flying beasts like dragons, démons or Angeles among others

I've seen a lot of decks using Nocturnus vampire. Since it's based on the fact that the top card of the deck is black, does it still revelant to play it ?

I really like the use of Dismiss into Dream ! It's very interesting.
Also, with Estrid, the Masked I was planning to play Serra's Sanctum. I've been keeping this card for years and it's a good place to play it.

As I've a lot of creatures that have activated abilities requiring mana, I was thinking that I could use the Spellbinder equipment to cast instants as Seething Song or Cabal Ritual.
Even if those cards aren't avaiable, I still could use the Spellbinder to cast some of my removals.

Are those card a viable option ?

Well I was on m'y way back from work and I saw a small Shop that used to sell magic cards à few years ago. As it's not their first activity they stop buying New products. But they were some lefts they were try to sell. Among them I found a Mizzix of the izimagus preco commander.

I think I'll trytoimprove that one and building a niv mizzet deck based on draw effects on my own.

Last thing : I have a Jaya Ballard I'd like to play. In what deck it would fit Best ?

An EDH deck based on vampires.
It's the second commander deck I build from scratch.
I've take a look to the others and try to build mine.

Any comments on it would be appreciated: ratio of cards, interestings vampires I would missed, genral advices etc...
I'd like to improve at deck bulding.

You could try the locust god,  saheeli, the gifted  brudiclad, telchor engineer just depends on what you want to do

I've bought the commander deck with saheeli. I'll upgrade it of course but for me it's more focused on artefacts. And that's a good thing, I wanted to have one too ! And for the locust god, I see it everywhere, so I'm going to get one. It seems that it can fit in a very large number of Izzet decks.

You're going to have to ba a little clearer on what you mean by more options.

Well, what I mean is that I want is to be able to handle several situations. I've seen an Niv-Mizzet deck that was only focuse on drawing. Every single card whas here on this purpose. Of course, it allows you to win, but what if you need to counter or removal ?

Since now, I've only played deck with lot of creatures, or big one, so I'd like to change a bit. 3 of my main decks are : Sliver, Dragon (with The Ur Dragon) and Kaalia of the Vast.


Simply put, wich one provide the more control on the board ?

Well, I looked some decks built around Mizzix and, indeed, it seems that it fit better for a deck based on instants and sorceries.

Is there a chance that I still can use the Nivs in Mizzix deck or would it be some waste of space ?

If not, I'll have to make a choice between Mizzix Instant/Sorceries or Niv Mizzet Draw.

Wich one would provide the more game options ?

Hello !

I would like to build an Edh deck based on "Instants and sorceries spells". I the first time I thought about using Narset  as the commander.

 But I finally choose to use one of the Niv Mizet (and using the other two as regular creatures).

I try to find some inspiration on the site but most of the deck are focused about drawing. Well I understand that it's a perfect synergy with Niv Mizzet (the 3 of them by the way) but I was wondering if there is other way to build it.

And what sort of spell I need to use. Mostly counterspells ? Mostly draw ? Mostly removal ? Mostly direct damages ?

Of course I want to be able to kill with Niv Mizzet capacity but I would like to have a little more options while playing.

Some tips ? Thanks in advance.

Hello !
I've found this site a moment ago. And I find it very interesting. But a little thing keep me from using it more often.

While I can easily read and play cards printed in english, thé fact is that I'm french and I own à major part of m'y cards in french.

And if for some cards the translation is pretty obvious, forum some other it isn't that easy. For example, original species name can be hard to figure out when you don't know them (sliver => slivoïdes pretty easy when you know it but hard to guess if you never see it).

So I have to make an advanced search with colors, mana costs and card type even when I have the full (french) name in front of me.

It would be a LOT more effective if the search could be thé one on Magic Card Market. If you type a word, it search it through english and french (in browser langage I think) and display the 2 names for each result.

With this system, it can be more easy to find card. I understand that it will be useful mainly for people who own non english cards but it will be a true improvment.

General Magic / How to properly build a collection ?

Hello there !

Let me explain : I play magic since a while (I started with Urza set). But back then, I was a teenager and I only afford some boosters from time to time. So I made deck with what I could found fo casual plays with friends and family. As there was very few player, I still have pretty low experience on deck and collection building.

Since a few years, I was wondering how to build a trading collection.

As for now, I buy the cards that I need for my commander decks. And I sometimes buy boosters or boxes. The fact is I have dozens and dozens of rare cards that hadn't interested anyone since years. And some of them with very little value and in multiple copy.

Sorry if it is a silly question for you, but are there any method or tips to build an attractive collection to trade ? Or it is just all about getting more and more boosters and having luck ? I'm pretty fed up with my binder full of 80% of trash rares xD

If you get to get into standard, I would recommend putting together a decklist ( or netdecking it), and just buying the singles you need to build the deck. It would likely be cheaper, and you would probably end up with a better deck.

Well, I end up doing that for my commander decks, since some cards aren't avaiable in booster, or very rare to find. The fact is, since I don't really know what deck style to play, box seemed to be a good way to have several options to explore.
