Even if you don't want to make them big Blade of the Bloodchief still gets you more value outta sacrificing creatures. Grave Pact might be a consideration as well. It doesn't have flash like Dictate of Erebos but comes in a little earlier. Have you considered Kolaghan's command?

I would suggest 4x Temple of Abandon as I think the scry effect is better then gain 1 life. Definitely run 4x Rootbound Crag as its the fastest non ShockLand. There is also Game Trail if your interested. Also have you considered Double strike effects like Temur Battle Rage or Uncaged Fury?

I would consider Terminate and Dreadbore for creature removal. Kolaghan's command doesn't have a bad mode and can always be useful.

Personally I like Whip of Erebos but I think to make it shine you need to use creature's with Enter The Battlefield effects like Swift Warkite or find a way to get value from the creatures before they are automatically exiled at End of Turn. As G. Moto suggested Vampiric Rites or Altar's Reap would get that extra value and if you couple that with Act of Treason like cards then you can use your opponents creatures to draw cards.

Bloodthrone Vampire + Blade of the Bloodchief gets outta hand very quickly. Also Mortician Beetle might be something to consider.
Dreadbore could work as well if Planeswalkers are an issue.

You can also cast Vines of Vastwood to prevent your opponent from targeting their own creatures with spells or abilities. Might not come up as often as protecting your own creatures but its always nice to know you have that option. I would definitely look into burn spells not only to remove blockers/combo pieces but also to get that last touch of damage in to finish a game.  Lightning Bolt, lightning Strike, Forked bolt something along those lines.

G. Moto has a good point on cards like Swell of Growth. They would let you ramp a little and get a tapped land down early and avoid the downside but Swell is a 2 drop that doesn't cantrip and can make you run out of steam when you need it most. I find the benefit from a few tap lands to outweigh the drawbacks. Especially when you start looking at the effects they add when they come in. Scry 1 is better then gain 1 life because you are looking for certain cards to pump your creatures and passing on a land you don't need to draw is way better then 1 life that in the end won't matter. Lands like Mana Confluence or City of Brass will guarantee you get your colors but after 2 taps its better to just run shocklands if you can afford them. I don't know if I would run more then 1 of those types of lands since you are running a lot of off color Phyrexian spells and 2 life a spell adds up quickly.

Have you considered Bonds of Mortality to help deal with your indestructable problem?  Firespout is a great option to clear lots of flyers, you could also evoke Cloudthresher, Needle Storm, or Aerial Volley. Also I love Rabid Bite one of my new favorite green "removal" spells :)

A couple Temple of Epiphany and a couple Shivan Reef is all you really need in addition to the Swiftwater Cliffs. I only run 5 tapped lands in my build. 2 Temple of Epiphany, 2 Swiftwater Cliffs, 1 Wandering Fumarole back that up with 2 Shivan Reef and the rest Island or Mountain.

I run a very similar deck to this and found blue to be the perfect addition for cards like Slip Through Space, Artful Dodge, Distortion Strike, and even Ghostform to get damage through. You get access to cards like Vapor snag to bounce blockers or problematic utility creatures and gets in a point of life loss. Gitaxian Probe is also a great card to let you take a peek and decide if now is the time to go all in and also cantrips so you don't lose tempo. You already mentioned Serum Visions but Telling Time and Anticipate are great filter spells that let you sculpt your hand and trigger prowess. You also get to use Twisted Image as a side board card to remove Walls, SpellSkite, Birds of Paradise and any other 0 strength problematic creature also if you decide to go with Stormchaser Mage you can use Twisted Image to make him a flying 4/2 before any other pumps.
