W/B-EnoughWithTheCounters&ServosAlready

Swarm servos, gain life from attacks and other avenues. Deathtouch and Disowned Ancestor with counters for defense. Very cheap creatures get stronger with counters, servos overwhelm and heal me when they attack and die (or do much pinprick damage to player if unblocked or skulking on behind the scenes). Also, when they die, they give counters, which trigger more servos created. Or I sacrifice the servo to defiant salvager which triggers a counter and a server and more life and a counter and a servo...oh yeah aetherborn mauraders moving counters triggering servos with flying and lifelink. Yeah.

Inspired by deck named Orz ServoSwarmNuke by khanthemighty. Central idea tweaked with cheaper cards and better combo, I think.

An actual, physical deck. Maybeboard all also owned. Will fiddle with choices once I play it.

Probably add a foul orchard or two in place of a swamp, if it proves too difficult to get a green mana they way I have it now.

Deck Reviews / Re: [Standard] Deck Building Help for a Noob Beginner?
« le: Février 21, 2017, 04:28:12 pm »
I'm just starting as well, and I would second the recommendation to specialize. In order to do that, you must learn what all these crazy terms mean: aggro, control, mill, etc (aggro=agrressive, control=stop opponent's spells and limit the opportunity to play cards, mill=make opponents draw all cards; simplified explanations, of course).

I picked two colors with cards I was interested in, then searched here for other decks with those colors/specific cards.  Look at what others have added to compliment your chosen 'cool cards' when they built decks around them. As a beginner, I also look for cheap cost decks and cards.

As for Friday Night Magic, they are probably not worried about wasting their time on a newbie girl, they are probably just a little apprehensive about talking to a girl in real life ;)

As I am new too, I won't offer any specific help on which cards to select; others here know that aspect better than little ole me. I will say do not underestimate the power of 'small cards', or those with low mana cost. I built a pretty good deck with most cards at 2 mana cost or lower.

Good luck, and happy playing!

I made a few changes, lowered mana curve, added bandirs and constrictors. The sideboard is just cards I replaced from first draft of deck, not serious considerations. In addition to any recommendations for improving the base 60 cards, suggestions for the side board and reasons why would be especially appreciated.

Ive only been looking at this site and have already learned so much; great resource, thank you.

CheapCounterLowMana

Quick play with many cards having low mana cost. Winding constrictor and corpsejack menace multiply counter focus. Knockout damage from aetherborn maurader and cultivator of blades.

Very inexperienced. Looks decent to me. All these cards are physically owned, not a wish deck.

Winding Constrictor says hello. You need to extensively lower your mana curve. Scrounging Bandar should be 4 of.

Agreed. Winding Consrictor is on my wish list - I have not ordered from an online source - I just started a week ago.

As stated in the deck comments, all cards listed are ones I physically own, so I have limitations. Winding constrictor would help with mana curve as well as counter strategy, yes; but it has become very popular along with corpsejack menace and is hard to find offline.

So, looking at numerous possible starting hamds, incremental growth, durable handicraft, and Lifecrafter's gift all show up too often - losing those 3 would free up room to add scrounging Bandar and others.

Also could add 2 aether hubs or shimmering grottagrottoransguild promenade.

Thank you for the input, Drunk Cynic. I will keep an eye out to obtain winding constrictors while looking for more corpsejack menace - add them both when I find them!

This is a deck I can make with physical cards. Maybe cards are also owned. Collection is very small, just starting.

I got a few cards that held promise for counters, then I spent some time looking at individual cards, then decks here on deckstats.net. With a budget in kind, I think if I can add 2 or 3 more corpsejack menaces, or a 2 winding constrictors, it would be what I envisioned. To make room for the corpsejacks,  would lose the night market lookouts for 2 spots, maybe replace a card I have 3 of.

This will be the deck I use for my first face to face game, very casual. I think there will be 4 other players, 5 total not head to head.

I think I could lose an incremental growth and a durable handicraft, and add more cheap creatures or lands.
